bluetooth audio lag in yosemite

i tried reinstalling yosemite 2 times now, both clean installs and spent two full weekends, still having the same issue.. FRUSTRATING! have to just accept not playing music anymore using iTunes anymore until Apple fixes this issue..

Same problem here with a Beats Studio Wireless and Yosemite 10.10.1. Used to work just great before updating the OS. 😟 I also have the same problem with my JBL Charge speaker.

Resetting the SMC fixed it for now... let's see if this lasts.

Have any of you here tried this http://lifehacker.com/fix-your-bluetooth-audio-in-yosemite-with-this-terminal-16 70380974 yet? I'm not sure if audio quality has anything to do with our problem, but it wouldn't hurt to give this a try. I can't test it though, because I reverted back to Mavericks.

I am so disappointed with my Apple iMac I bought last year. I spent a lot of money on it b because everyone was saying there was less problems with Apple products than PC,. What bull. Once you go Mac you're bound to come back to PC

I have a Macbook 13 inch Mid 2012, 4GB RAM and 1600 MHz DDR3) updated to Yosemite (no clean install), and am experiencing the same problem with my Bose Sound Link Mini as well as with my Logitech device, both working properly before.

I just tested the fix minnerman suggested, it seems like my bluetooth audio works without any lag so far. Although it doesn't really seem to make sense since Bluetooth traffic should be higher after this fix.

Maybe the conversion to lower sound qualities in order to reduce Bluetooth traffic is the problem rather than the Bluetooth connection itself?

I'll write again in a couple of days after testing the sound extensively.

I have to admit my message was too quick - after having no problems for almost 2 hrs now there it was again 10 more minutes with several lags - if this wasn't enough my Macbook can hardly establish any stable connection to the Sound Link Mini anymore. I'd rather not recommend to try this fix.

I have the same audio lag in my macbook pro mid 2009 Yosemite 10.10.1 when playing audio on Edifier Prisma speakers connected by bluetooth.

Updating to OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 has fixed my bluetooth audio lag issue on both my mid 2011 iMac and MacBook Air.

I downloaded the update and also find the issue greatly improved. When watching a movie on http://www.crackle.com, using Firefox, the audio/video sync slips slightly for about 15 seconds then seems to "snap" back together. I don't find any problem watching NetFlix content.

I have a new iMac 5K running Yosemite and I also have this audio lag problem. Must be software as m hardware is all new.

Apple need to rectify this ASAP.

I should think reinstalling the entire OS just to fix a bluetooth problem is using a sledgehammer to crack a nut, and if this were the only solution then Apple has far bigger design & quality problems than we can imagine.

I've been facing this bluetooth problem ever since a Yosemite install and even filed a report yesterday. Doing an SMC and PRAM reset appears to have fixed the problem for now. Been playing music for the past half hour without any stutter.

The new update log for Yosemite (10.10.3) has a note:

"Fixes an issue that might cause Bluetooth devices to disconnect"

Could anyone here confirm that the problem is solved by this update?

No it doesn't solve the problem. I've been dealing with bluetooth (mouse, keyboard and audio) and wifi related lag issues for YEARs with Apple (they are related - turn off your wifi and the bluetooth lag problems go away - and it's clearly not the hardware, it all works fine on Windows Bootcamp and older OSX versions). They clearly either can't fix it or have no interest. I hope Google eats their lunch with forthcoming desktop Android. I'm sick to death of Apple's iTunes and their basic programing incompetence.
