Mac Mini 2014 Oct cannot wake up after sleep

Mac Mini 2014 Oct Version, cannot wake up after sleep by typing on keyboard or moving mouse (both hardwired USB) if external HDMI screen goes to sleep mode too (usually after 1 min if no signal coming from the MAC). To wake up, I ust turn off and turn on the screen and keep typing on the keyboard. I already checked "prevent computer from sleeping if display goes to sleep". But does not help. This is very annoying. I now try to set the sleep timer to more than 1 hour. Wasting my energy and not helping. I tried connecting my HDMI screen to a HDMI to mini-Display port adaptor cable, then plug into the thunderbolt port of the MAC. Same issue, no improvement.

Hello

I have the same problem.

New Mac mini 2014 connected to my samsung tv via HDMI. If the screen turn off and my tv is turn off (or go to sleep) i can't see the mac mini when i put back on my tv. the mac mini work because I heard it (it's connected to a onkyo sound système )but no image. I have to disconect the hdmi cable ON THE mac mini (if I do it on the tv nothing happened) and the image came back.

However, I have no problème if the mac mini goes to sleep mode (when the front led blinking), It's just the "turn screen off" option and when my tv goes off that I have this bug.

I hope apple fix this quickly ! I miss the old panel with the two sliders 😟

I have this problem too.

Fresh new Mini late 2014 plugged in a VGA monitor through a Mini DisplayPort original Apple adapter. When i choose the "stop" option by myself, the computer stops and wakes up correctly.

When i leave the Mac alone for some minutes, it goes on stop. The white light on the device turns completely off and i cannot wake up the Mac in any way (mouse, keyboard, power button).

The only way to restore the Mac is to unplug the power cable and replug again.

I've done all the updates.

I am not happy to find yet another issue with an Apple product. If I'm reading it correctly lots of problems are coming from Yosemite. So if I understand the '

fixes' I can either disable safe sleep or try connecting to my monitor with an HDMI cable. Changing anything through Terminal scares me as I'm not all that computer savvy. And to think I thought my late 2011 MBP logic board was my only issue.........thanks for the good posts.

My mac mini 2014 2.6 i5 monitor would not wake from safe sleep using a Samsung Syncmaster 2233 with an Apple DVI to HDMI adapter attached to the monitor and an HDMI cable to the mac HDMI port. Tried everything except the changing sleep to 24 hours fix listed here, and would have to hold the mac's power button for a few seconds until the screen went blank, then pressing it again and everything would work. Finally hooked an old VGA to mini-display adapter which I plugged into one of the mini's Thunderbolt ports and now the monitor wakes like it is supposed to. The only thing I have noticed is the user icons have messed up colors, but once I enter my password and hit return, it all clears up just before the screen comes on.

Now if I can only get Mail to show my messages contents every time I open it instead of just sometimes, I will be happy.

The only thing I know that works, is to change the sleep mode. You may or may not get more battery drain during sleep. Use at your own risk!!

1. Open terminal and enter this command:

sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0

2. Now enter your password when promted.

3. Enter sleep/close the lid, depending on what mac you have.

Hope this works for you:-)

If you want to reset it to normal mode again, change 0 to 3.

We have a similar problem with our Mac Mini and it won't allow us to control the volume when it awakens from sleep mode we are running the newest version after Yosemite i think its Capitan. Our fix is to unplug the Suround sound system from the audio jack and replug it to hear sound again but the key board sound volume won't function until we reboot. Any suggestions?
