i just got my iPad Air 2 and the speaker vibrates whenever I play video or music even at low volume. Is this a common problem?

Hi Because of the Viberating problem I returned my new iPad Air 2 after 2 days for a full refund I did a test played a music track on new iPad air then played the same track on ipad 4 The iPad 4 sound was good But the iPad Air Viberating even a low volume. Also when typing I could feel a tingle through my fingers like static. The Wifi was a bit hit & miss no problem with other Apple devices all running iOS 8.1 Battery life was a lot shorter than other iPad 4 Also it is a very flimsy iPad and I would NOT BUY ANOTHER IPAD AIR 2 Going to buy iPad Air 1 32G £120.00 cheaper now and in my opinion a better iPad Chee

I'm going to return my ipad air 2 tomorrow... i thought i was going to have a no regret product and it's not! The vibration is very annoying since I like watching videos on my tablet a lot. It also get very hot when doing some intense activity. Plus I'm not enjoyng iOs 8 (it's just like having a bigger iphone not a smaller macbook). I hope they will take it back even if the package is a bit scratched

Although I desubscribed from this thread I thought I would provide an update on my own experience after my earlier post from a week and a half ago.

First, after living with it and giving myself 12 days before I absolutely had to return it, I am keeping my iPad Air 2. I have been totally pleased with every aspect of operation and am not bothered by vibration since I placed it in a very thin and light case. I found that the vibration frequency against the case is nonexistent for me and my use-case. I still use it regularly outside of the case when at home or at leisure and the vibration is not only tolerable but just not a huge deal anymore --I guess I've gotten used to it when outside the case.

About that word, work --- I bought my iPad to get work done and so often I use foldable BT keyboard I carry in computer my bag when my workflow allows for it. While my MBP Retina is my workhorse, I have quite the productivity workflow rooted in iOS apps these days -- and the iPad Air 2 is frickin' blazing fast in apps like Omnigraffle and Pages, to say nothing of MS Word. For me and my daily use-cases, the extra boost in performance gains here and saved time there....far outweigh the minor annoyances of vibration or lcd wobble that can occur when you touch the 1 square inch region to the left of the logo on the back (as if anyone who regularly uses a case would see this, ever).

Those 3 cores in the A8X, plus first-time 2gb RAM in an iOS device, aren't coming to the old design; however iPad Air 1 is thicker, doesn't vibrate, and so while it will not scream in iOS8 quite as much --- it's no slouch and still very fast. I think any consumer-oriented tablet users will be far happier with the iPad Air 1 and so I advise them to skip the iPad Air 2.

For me and my performance-driven use-cases --- this thing would literally have to be bouncing around on the table like a ringing/vibrating iPhone to make it worth giving that up. The speed difference between iPad Air 1 on iOS8 and the iPad Air 2 is that significant to me. Your mileage, opinion, and value system may vary -- but it's amazing the complaints & return statements here and how they simply do not seem to reflect in reported reality from the media. I am not saying the disappointment or frustration expressed by most people isn't real -- but for me and others the performance boost is also quite real.

If you're disappointed and frustrated -- I'm sorry your experience wasn't optimal or ideal. If you're somebody dog-piling in an agenda-laden schadenfreude in the Apple Support Communities, well I feel doubly sorry for you guys. Either way it's an easy fix --- in the words of Jonathan Mann "If you don't want an iPhone 4 iPad Air 2, don't buy it. If you bought one and you don't like it...bring it back."

As for my own experience the past 13 days -- my iPad Air 2 is staying right where it is on day 14 and beyond.

Enjoy your journey!

This is what I settled on for now, and is so far the best case because of the protective molding that fits the Air 2 snugly -- my only gripe is that it doesn't have the magnetic "lock" sensor when you close it -- but nothing a 1 minute auto-lock can't fix. It completely dampened the vibration for me.

The sound vibration is very disappointing and I had to return it after day 1. I think Apple should have conducted QA checks before it gave the green light to mass produce it and charge a hefty price for such a poor quality-built/designed product. I expect much more from Apple. The Design and Build Quality, along with Software stability/reliability are what sets them apart from their competitions. I am a true fan, but this "design error" is unacceptable and should not have occurred. Whoever's responsible for this grave mistake at the company should be fired! Need more perfectionists, darn it!

Well that was long winded and self important. You don't need to justify to anyone why you choose to keep the new version of the iPad, I think it's a great tablet as well but the experience is somewhat tainted by the aforementioned issues. We buy Apple products for the experience and the quality so if there's a flaw affecting the user's experience to a point they need to buy a case to cover it up (or in your case write a story justifying to yourself why you should keep it), then that's a problem.

I prefer "well thought-out" for one unique use-case, as opposed to your mean-spirited tagging of "long-winded...etc". I don't believe being one of the few people expressing no desire to return it, and stating why in their situation, is self-important either. But it's a free country so thread-jack away with a pointless criticism of the one guy providing a some helpful info about cases eliminating the vibration in an update. I'd like to think some folks might have appreciated the updated since 80% of the one-off post in here are "I returned it..." and nothing else of much use or insight.

Of course nobody needs to justify why they got or kept the new version of the iPad. A I said in my use-case (and not only my own) the performance was more than enough to counteract the vibration in my own decision to keep it. That's all I was saying and I fully acknowledged...non self-importantly, I might add, that others' mileage and feelings on the matter will vary. I hope nobody thought I was trying to invalidate others' opinions with any kind of critical tone -- as you're doing here -- either. If anyone thinks that, I'd definitely apologize. I hope that's not too long-winded or self-important. 😉

Fair enough - I apologize if my tone sounded condescending to anyone when I posted my update. I probably should have left the Jonathan Mann song lyric part out, lol, but my intent was truly to at least provide another view in the chorus of returns. I think people have every right to express their frustration and return it if they are disappointed. And I agreed this issue is a design fault or QC problem that shouldn't have happened, but there are people who will think differently about the issue and tolerate the speaker vibration in favor of performance.

I partly wonder if Apple keeping the Air 1 in their lineup was partly due to their accepting the vibration design issue in the Air 2. If that's the case, I don't look for this to be corrected until "iPad Air 3" or whatever it will be called.
