Yosemite screensaver problem. Constsantly reverts back to National Geographic.
Has anyone found a fix to the screensaver problem? Nothing I try seems to work, including editing the Library files.
Thanks.

I've been having this problem too, doesn't look like there is a solution out there. Are you trying to select your own photo library from iPhoto?
I just spoke with Apple Support. I have submitted a support request in April and have tried many times to get his fixed. Today I was told that Apple was working on a fix for this problem. That is good news - -
But the support advisor could not tell me when the fix was going to be released, if was going to be released, and the only hope was to check with the next OS update and see what happens!
This continues to be frustrating!
Having the same problem on a new iMac with Yosemite. Quite amusing. Tried every recommended fix on the support pages. It only goes back to the NG screensaver in the end.
thank you for the workaround. I only upgraded to yosemite a month ago and have had to go to the forums for solutions for many other problems. I miss my snow leopard!!! Anyway I am a senior citizen and don't understand the technical stuff. But I was able to follow what you explained and I am happy to see my pics. aloha
While the workaround is OK, the same problem occurs with setting the background. Having changed my photo library to photos they are no longer visible except via the odd folder that was in use before the upgrade.
At least I know I'm not alone in the screensaver Nat Geo issue. Very frustrating.
What has become strange is that while I cannot directly set a background, I can set the screensaver, using one of the transition routines, to use a folder of my pictures - but I cannot use those pictures directly! The last updates on Yosemite seem to have real problems.
My problems went away after I upgraded to Photos and iCloud Photo Library.
I've now got the problem that National Geographic seems to be set to work with the limited number of pictures it started with. Rather than going through all my photos, screensaver now selects about 50 at a time and repeats them. It chooses a random set of 50 or so each time. Is there any way to get it to run with all my photos, either randomly, or in sequence?
