iPad Air 2 WiFi Issues
I'm having WiFi connectivity issues on my new iPad Air 2 (WiFi only). I'm having to turn WiFi off and on to reset my connection. Restarting and restoring hasn't fixed the issue.

So this blog ha been going for two years and still no fix.
come on Apple step up to this issue. It's a real pain.
I solved my problem and it was a very easy fix - replace the router. I never really liked the Linksys EA4500 and when I found a new router for $69.99 it was a no-brainer. I bought a TRENDnet Wireless AC1200 Dual Band Gigibit Router with USB Share Port, TEW-813DRU from Amazon. I installed it a couple of weeks ago and I haven't had one drop since. My iPad Air 2, iPhone 6, my wife's iPhone 4s and her iPad 1st Gen have all worked flawlessly on wifi with excellent speed and not a single drop.
So for $70 I upgraded to a faster and better router and also solved the wifi dropping issue. Definitely a no-brainer.
I've mentioned this before. iOS 8+ seems to be ok with the new AC spec routers. It's doesn't play nice with the older spec "N " routers, unfortunately.
I followed these steps and it's working fine now: http://appletoolbox.com/2014/10/ipad-air-2-wi-fi-problems-fix/
I Had this problem, upgraided my router, did not help, yet I changed the mode in the router (wireless) to 11b only , channel auto, chanel width cannot be changed and it is set on 20 mhz, it worked like a charm, did not disconnect not even once.😎
Just returned ipad air 2 and iphone 6, both of which could not even connect to 2 routers I have tp-link and netgear. Nada, nothing "unable to connect" and "incorrect password". I have 5 iOS devices all working nicely, but since the passing of Steve Jobs things are not the same. I cannot begin to express my frustration and anger that 2 brand new devices costing around 800USD each just do not work out of the box.
All cra* by people who like to see their names online. All this does not do anything, quit misleading users and buyers.
Sure, people have nothing better to do than go on Apple Support Forums and give phony advice! We all share what has worked for us. Steve Job's death has nothing to do with your router problems.
zero problems since upgrading to 8.1.1 several weeks ago. travelling extensively during that time and no drops. happy ipad'r 😍
iPad Air 2 wifi problem update. Since updating the Air 2 to 8.1.1 I have had no wifi drops.
I have to say the problem is resolved for me. At Least for me. Its been over 2 weeks now.

iPad Air 2, iOS 8.1.1, 128GB, WIFI only (MGTX2KN/A)
BAD:
Netgear R7000 (nighthawk) - WIFI breakage, tested various channels and 2.4/5Ghz - dropouts, and cant even access appstore - missng app pictures, cant download apps ect, cannot stream without dropout after some minutes.
OK:
Apple Timecapsule 2TB model A1409 (build in AirPort)
No dropouts, everything seems to work as intended.
I got this to use while Hospitalized doing long days of chemo, so I can watch netflix and have a chance to keep contact with family/facetime ect.
The hospital does not run TimeCapsules or Apple AirPort products 😟
I am on my second brand new iPad Air 2 this week and still cannot get wifi connection for more than a few minutes at times up to about an hour. I have spent countless hours this week researching this issue on line, rebooting, resetting, wiped clean, restarting, phonecalls with Apple Support, 1 1/2 hours at the Genius Bar, all to no avail. (Genius Bar tech said they were not aware of this wifi problem.) I have a 2 month old Linksys EA6100 Smart Wifi router that is the wireless AC that others have recommended. I have an iPad 4, iPhone 5s, iPod, and Samsung Smart TV that all work perfectly fine on my wifi. I have not tried nhcowboy's tip to try logging in to my wifi as a guest user and am wondering how that worked out for him and others that have tried. Before Apple support would work with me I had to have all current ios updates installed on my iPad so I have them all including this week's 8.1.2 update. Nothing has resolved this issue. I noticed on my router account that it keeps showing my iPad Air 2's connection as LAN instead of wireless and wonder if that's the culprit. I reboot my router and my iPad Air 2 shows up as wirelessly connected briefly but won't stay that way and goes back to showing up as connected to LAN instead of wireless. I have to pay Linksys $29 to talk to their support person on the phone or by live chat and haven't done that yet because it just seems wrong to pay them to talk about a problem their router may be causing me. Apple has told me they will replace my iPad Air 2 if nothing else works but I fear that even a 3rd new one will still have the same problem. I have never had any problems like this in the past. Any suggestions would be very appreciated.
Solve this problem by 1. From home screen, swipe up from the bottom. 2. Disable the wifi function. 3. Then, enable this function in the same way. Note:Not to Disable/enable the wifi function in the setting. You iPad will have stable wifi connection after that.
I have the exact same issue with my Air 2 and a Netgear R7000 Nighthawk router.
It's impossible to stream anything for more than a few minutes and it's almost impossible to load or update any apps.
In any case good I wish you all the best with your chemo!
The solution to all the wifi connectivity problems I was having with my new iPad Air 2 was to simply uninstall my router and reinstall as if it was brand new. I did this a week ago and my iPad has worked perfectly ever since with a solid strong consistent wifi connection. All the hours I spent trying to figure this out and something so simple was all it needed.
Get a new Router.
