iPhone 6 Plus Dropped Calls (Verizon)

iPhone 6 Plus, 128GB, Space Gray

RESPONSES NEEDED!!

Ok. I have been having poor signal strength and 100's of dropped calls since upgrading from an iPhone 5 to iPhone 6 Plus. (Both the iPhone 5 and 6 Plus are on the Verizon network) I have spent over 50 hours dealing with Apple TSS, the Apple Store and Verizon TSS. I have done multiple network resets. I have performed numerous restores. I have set the phone up as new after every restore. I have had my SIM card replaced, I have had Verizon reprovision my line numerous times. And I even had my 6 Plus exchanged. My first iPhone 6 Plus shipped with IOS 8 and had these issues. When I upgraded to IOS 8.0.2 it did not help resolve the issues. Then when I upgraded to IOS 8.1 it still did not help resolve the issues. Nothing has solved my issues.

My wife does not seem to be having these issues with her iPhone 6 Plus, 128GB, Silver. I am unsure if she is not having the issue because she travels a the same short distance day to day. I travel primarily about a 150 mile radius around Atlanta on a day to day basis which may explain why I am having these issues and she is not.

I am seeing a lot of threads in the Apple forums as well as the Verizon forums where people are complaint of these same issues. Verizon admits that they are

receiving numerous complaints from iPhone 6 customers having these issues. Apple states I am an isolated case.

Ok. I know this may sound a like an odd question but I wonder if this problem is iPhone color specific. I am not sure what materials go into the coating of the iPhone 6, I am not sure if it is a metallic powder coat or some other process, I doubt it is just painted. My wives iPhone 6 Plus is Silver and it seems she is not having these issues. It also appears that not all iPhone 6 customers are having these issues. I have noticed that some people having these issues state they have a space gray model (Like I do). I do not remember seeing any post about someone having a Silver or Gold iPhone 6 having these issues.

Thank you

I figured I would wait to give my replacement 128gb space gray 6 plus time, to see if cell reception is better, and so far I see better reception, and I get the same bars as my wifes 6 and same LTE also. Yesterday we went to a restaurant that I only got 3g with my last phone and this one I was getting LTE, I almost want to turn back on data and voice now, but will wait for further testing.

I am reloading as a new iphone, what a pain and I lost save games (not happy about that), but I am also not loading a lot of widgets this time and stuff I do not use, will see day after day after I load stuff back slowly. I do notice more force closing of apps that never happened on the other phone, but I can live with that (its not a lot at all tho, but I do notice it, called apple and they tested and said all was normal, I will keep an eye on it).

So so far a replacement did fix my crappy signal, dropped calls, ect.. I will update if things change.

Thank You!!!

iPhone 6+ Space Grey 64GB.

Carrier: AT&T

Location: Charlotte, NC

For my experience, I have really had no issues at all. I am in an area where LTE can be sporadic. I am constantly switching back and forth between HSPA and LTE using data without issue. Of course for calls, AT&T is strictly HSPA for the time being. My Boss has the iPhone 6+ with Verizon and has had this issue frequently. He swapped his phone to resolve his issue. Which could honestly mean many things. Could be hardware, it could be a bad flash of the software, or it could be a complete placebo effect. Either way, the more data you have the closer you are to finding the root cause.

I know that trying to compare an AT&T issue to a Verizon Issue is like comparing Apples and Bananas. They use different bands altogether. VoLTE adds yet another data point to consider and the issue may simply be a radio firmware update. I hope for the sake of millions of Apple/Verizon customers that there is not a hardware defect.

I am having insane call dropping issues. Detailed below and what I have done (without result)

1) My LTE is in "Data Only"

2) I am on a call, then it goes quiet then just disconnects and goes back to home screen

3) Doesn't show the call in the call history

This happens generally at around 6-12 minutes on a call. I went to Apple and they replaced the phone. When they ran diagnostics they showed zero dropped calls. I started keeping track and in one week I had 74 dropped calls, 14 the day I went to Apple.

New phone, same problem, nothing helps. Never happened on my 5S.

HI all,

i have enabled data and voice and this phone works perfectly to date

so in my case I had a bad phone , if you swapped for another and set up as a new iPhone then swap the phone again.

it could be

1 corrupt iOS insatall

2. Too many apps installed ( yes lots and lots of apps causes issues )

3, Bad restore

4. bad phone

5. Bad luck

my case was all of the above being 4 my main issue

Hello...I have had the same issue with calls being dropped after switching over to the new iPhone 6+ from a 5. It was driving me crazy but I think I have the fix. I explained my issue to an apple tech. Explained that I restored my new phone from the cloud as I presume everyone Has done as well. The tec reset my network and attenna in the settings. Under settings, general, reset, reset network. The tech explained that I brought done the setting from the IPhone 5 and that in doing this reset it will default to the settings needed for the 6plus and verizon. I had to connect to my Wiifi at home afterwards because it will reset that as well. At first I thought yeah sure that won't work but tried it anyway. I've been dropping calls daily since I got this new phone. Since the reset not one call fail. I have tested by talking in places were generally I would drop the calls and I have been hammering calls and not one drop. I think this did the trick. Today for example after using the phone quite a bit all day not one dropped call. Using the phone much less I would have dropped at least 4 calls. Hope this helps!

Hi all,

I like to say that I have had volt enabled now for over a week and the phone is still working Perfectly!!!

I had also tried resetting the network connection and absolutely no help for my bad phone.

I just wanted to update on things to try (from my last post)....

HI all,

i have enabled data and voice and this phone works perfectly to date

so in my case I had a bad phone , if you swapped for another and set up as a new iPhone then swap the phone again.

it could be

1. Corrupt IOS install (wipe and restore)

2. Reset network settings (requires you to input all wifi passwords back in)

3. Too many apps installed ( yes lots and lots of apps causes issues )

4, Bad restore (restore as a new iphone)

5. Bad SIM card (get a new one from your carrier)

6. Have the carrier reprovision your line (call them to do this)

7. Bad phone

8. Bad luck

my case was #7.

If you tried all, then keep replacing the phone until you get a good one.

BEST OF LUCK

1st. I was so upset at dropped calls, loss of audio, etc.. like you all, and I almost threw the phone against a wall several times!!

Again I did all below, now #3 apps (I only did on my last replacement, this is replacement 2, the 3rd iPhone 6 plus 128 gig steel gray), I have not installed many at all yet! I only have what I use mostly 54 to date SO FAR. I read others having lots of apps causing issues as well so, start there (though most likely you don't have lots of apps installed)

To answer your question "YES" call quality is much better when VOLT is in use.

Yes, my phone also used the normal way (it switched, downgraded to non VOLT) when no LTE is found. (Now I don't know what will happen if I am on VOLT and go into an area with no LTE, while on the call).

Yesterday I was in a basement and was on a call, and went into an elevator, stairwell, ect.. and never lost a call, or had any problems with the call.

Now it could be verizon finally has VOLT working properly in my area (I don't know), I still have my wife off VOLT, and may turn her back on, but 2 other 6 plus owners had VOLT on since they punched their phones and never had issues SOO....

But I can say I have tried all my suggestions above and the last was a new phone and it worked for me, maybe that I did the other steps, also fixed issued also, that is why I recommend a phone swap last, and when you do, set it up as a new iPhone.

I am on iphone #5 6 plus, dropped calls all the time! Bad reception on the receivers end...depends on how I hold the phone they can't hear me..gold phone & verzion service! I am beyond feed up... never had this issue with any iphone I have had..my husband has the 5 and no problems..I have been told the same thing as everyone else..by both companies..!

Add me to the list. iPhone 6, 128Gb, and everything was great on the iPhone 5. Now? I drop daily 6 to 7 times. When it drops, the bars on the phone disappear, and it goes through a whole recycle, not the IOS, just the phone, and it may take 10 to 15 seconds before I can try to call back the person who I was talking too. Have worked with Apple and Verizon on this, but no one is fixing it.

My I-Phone 6 is White and I am having the same problems. I am dropping calls all the time and my voice fades in and out when it's not dropping me. I had an I-Phone 5 before this with wonderful service and I am driving and traveling to the exact same places. I have replaced the phone once already to no avail. One of the Techs at the Apple Genius Bar in Scottsdale, AZ told me that there are known problems between the I-Phone 6 and Verizon that they are working on but I suspect this is an Apple issue not a Verizon issue since my Verizon service was fantastic before. My husband has an Android without any of these coverage issues.

I'm ready to go back to the I-Phone 5 or switch completely to an Android.
