iPhone 6 Plus Dropped Calls (Verizon)

iPhone 6 Plus, 128GB, Space Gray

RESPONSES NEEDED!!

Ok. I have been having poor signal strength and 100's of dropped calls since upgrading from an iPhone 5 to iPhone 6 Plus. (Both the iPhone 5 and 6 Plus are on the Verizon network) I have spent over 50 hours dealing with Apple TSS, the Apple Store and Verizon TSS. I have done multiple network resets. I have performed numerous restores. I have set the phone up as new after every restore. I have had my SIM card replaced, I have had Verizon reprovision my line numerous times. And I even had my 6 Plus exchanged. My first iPhone 6 Plus shipped with IOS 8 and had these issues. When I upgraded to IOS 8.0.2 it did not help resolve the issues. Then when I upgraded to IOS 8.1 it still did not help resolve the issues. Nothing has solved my issues.

My wife does not seem to be having these issues with her iPhone 6 Plus, 128GB, Silver. I am unsure if she is not having the issue because she travels a the same short distance day to day. I travel primarily about a 150 mile radius around Atlanta on a day to day basis which may explain why I am having these issues and she is not.

I am seeing a lot of threads in the Apple forums as well as the Verizon forums where people are complaint of these same issues. Verizon admits that they are

receiving numerous complaints from iPhone 6 customers having these issues. Apple states I am an isolated case.

Ok. I know this may sound a like an odd question but I wonder if this problem is iPhone color specific. I am not sure what materials go into the coating of the iPhone 6, I am not sure if it is a metallic powder coat or some other process, I doubt it is just painted. My wives iPhone 6 Plus is Silver and it seems she is not having these issues. It also appears that not all iPhone 6 customers are having these issues. I have noticed that some people having these issues state they have a space gray model (Like I do). I do not remember seeing any post about someone having a Silver or Gold iPhone 6 having these issues.

Thank you

"Voice and Data" in setings - cellular - enable LTE...

isn't this what enables you to make calls over LTE? Or is it a feature that enables voice and data at the same time? For this I would have to turn on VOlPE - which I think you have to do over your carrier. If you have this setting turned on on your phone, but VOIPE not enabled, could this result in these bad connections?

sorry for the confusing post I made last night , I was tied.

VOLT = voice over LTE and it is in beta, so your phone tries to constantly connect to 4G LTE to get voice and data at the same time, when it works the calls sound better, and even better when you are talking to someone else that has the a VOLT phone also,BUT because it uses 4g LTE any drop in signal, is garbled audio, loss of audio temporarily, or dropped calls.

so you should try to disable it on the phone and in your account, THEN see if your calls have the same problem, I forgot to disable it in my account, it will take me a week to test.

Yes disabling it now I loss voice and data at the same time, but what is more important to the user and to me it is calls do not get dropped or don't go thru.

Actually, maybe one could leave Volte on, and only disable the voice and data at the same time option.

I'll check with Apple if disabling "voice and data" really only disables that same time voice and data feature, or more. Because it's such a new technology, many may not really know how it's working.

I checked in my Verizon account, and "advanced calling" was on by default.

So next thing to check is if it's the phone or Verizon's system not being able to handle that new feature.

My first phone definitely was one of the tunnel phones, but this one's connection problems sound different.

One interesting thing: signal strength is likely not the issue. I had one extremely clear call from the same location as several garbled ones.

I had disabled the voice and data on the phone but you also need to turn off advanced calling, as I just did.

I think verizon has way too many people for their network and this is why VOLT is not working, I know some that have tmobile and their download/ upload is always double at a minimum what I get from verizon.

we will do tests and their web pages load quicker, more 4G in areas I don't even get any, but they have dropped calls sooo????

For those of you still having issues try ALL these steps in order at the same time. I have a 6 128g space grey. Hopefully there will be future fixes.

Go to My Verizon.com and disable "Advance Calling Feature"

On iPhone under Cellular and change "Enable LTE" to just data

Go to "General", go to "Reset" (all the way to bottom) and tap "reset network settings" and follow promps to reset the network. IPhone will go through and reset and restart. You won't lose anything, its just a network reset.

After if restarts. double click your home button to bring up the multi app switcher and swipe up to close out anything running in background

Do a hard restart. Hold down together quickly the home button and the sleep/wake button. Keep holding until Apple logo appears and let go.

Let the phone restart.

Hopefully this helps, it worked for me.

Thank You DKM13 for putting together that neat list. (I have the same phone as you, size and color, but a 6 plus)

BUT I have done all and I still get dropped calls in weak areas that other phones did not, apple and verizon need to fix this but I think it may come months if at all. For the size of this phone it should have outstanding reception. Verizon is not the same today it once was, I have noticed this degrading for the past couple of years now with all my phones, but this 6 plus is now rock bottom. I am holding on calls (so far) in good signal areas but weak ones where other phones did not have problems this phone just can't do it .

I actually did, the first week of owning this (before turning off advanced calling though), but for another problem, I saw no difference in performance, but others posted on here said they went thru multiple phones and still no help. I have a ding on the top, and do not want to pay for any replacement at the moment until more dings happen, I have apple care + and verizon insurance, but I did make an appointment at the apple store for something else, I will see what they say, also if I have to pay that deductible if they swap it.

I have an iPhone 6, silver 64GB. Both my son and I upgraded our 4S's in September (same day, same place, same time) at the Verizon wireless store. Using the 4S our cellular coverage was very good - we could place/receive calls and iMessage/text at home and during commute. Using the iPhone 6 my calls are dropped and I am unable to text in the same locations as I could previously. And, let me be clear, I am in a large metropolitan area that had no dropped calls or poor cellular coverage previously with the 4S. Another quirky thing is that sometimes, the phone's sound is muted when the unit is charging. It's not all the time, but it happens. I am running the most current iOS (8.1.1), have turned LTE to data only, done a hard reset AND network reset (multiple times), but those only help temporarily...as in minutes. It is extremely irritating especially since I unable to rely on the phone for emergency contact purposes. Google "iPhone 6, poor cellular coverage, dropped calls" and it's mind boggling how many results you get. More importantly, none are resolved. I've just posted the image below and my comments on another forum here in Apple Discussions - yes, there is another forum out there on this very site. Several as a matter of fact. Since we upgraded through Verizon, who is also our wireless carrier for many years, we reached out to their wireless "tech support" who spent a few weeks looking into this through their "network repair bureau". Last week I got the image below as the resolution. So, next step is to make an appt with Apple's "Genius Bar" and have Apple tell me probably the same thing.

I Just left the apple store

they say say I have lots of springboard errors , now keep in mind I set this phone up as a new phone and loaded all from scratch, every setting, app, ect..

now they agreed to swap , they did not have one in stock , so they are ordering one and will call when it arrives.

but he said the sprinboard crashes seem to be caused by memory issues , too many apps maybe or my theory .... Lack of ram

1 gig I think is actually causing these issues . Or even memory quality issues that I read about .

I Have to reload from scratch all settings and apps again when the new one arrives .

this is really getting old !!!

will advise after replacement

ALl I want is a phone that just works

i hope that is not a lot to ask

GGlad to hear they are switching out for you. Hope it solves the problem. i had the exact same thing happened to me, when they ran diagnostics I had all kinds of springboard and app crashes. They offered the switch it out Right then and there. 1 year warrenty without apple care plus. I think I learned my lesson of not upgrading to to the first generation of a new model again.

It is a pain to set up as a new phone but if there really is something wrong and apple is willing to switch out with no deductible due to manufacting problems possibly, than its a no brainer. What helps me is I take screen shots of how all my apps are set up And screen shots of all my settings to help make set up easier.
