iPad air 2 pop noise

My iPad Air 2 randomly has a "Pop Noise" out of the speaker. it happens randomly about once or twice a day when touching the screen or pressing a button. Has anybody else experienced this issue? Could it be a software issue or has it more likely to do with the hardware?

Let us not turn in on each other instead of promoting

Apple to make an IPad that is worthy of their logo. Most of

us realize that this snap crackle pop will return to our

replacement Air 2's and we want Apple to solve it

with a software update or recall because it is a

hardware problem. We have all spent good money

believing Apple was a name to trust.

But as has been said countless times, Apple isn't on this forum. They don't read these posts. This is a user to user forum. There are forum Moderators who remove posts that violate the Terms Of Use and there are Community Support Specialists who answer questions that have gone unanswered for 48 hours. You can complain all you want, but you're not making Apple aware of anything. The reality is there is no user defined solution to this problem. There's no answer any user can provide other than take it back or contact Apple Technical Support. So, there's no reason to keep writing about the problem. Apple won't respond and they're not paying attention to this thread.

If you want to be heard by Apple, use the right vehicle. This link is how you register an issue with Apple. They won't respond to you, but it will be read and it's the ONLY way to make a difference. Everyone who has this issue, should use the link below and let Apple know.

***** UPDATE *****

After feeling really fed up with my pop noise (as well as sideways keyboard on spotlight search and iTunes password dialog box being off screen making buying apps tough) and seeing so many disgruntled users on here and on Mac Rumors forum, I decided to collect all the evidence including my YouTube video that I posted a while ago and do the following..........

I WROTE TO TIM COOK.

I know that sounds extreme but I felt so irritated by the lack of admission of a fault! I mean, clearly a percentage of iPad Air 2 units are defective and I just want Apple to accept it and stop treating us like fools with rudimentary "fixes" like resetting or restoring!

Anyway, I was very polite and explained my issue as well as providing evidence of all you guys' issues. And no, Mr. Cook did not reply but a representative from "Apple Executive Relations EMEIA" called me the very next day. The representative couldn't have been nicer and scheduled a call from a senior Apple technician. It was so bizarre hearing that I was being called in response to my email to Tim Cook!

The senior technician called me and asked me to confirm a diagnostic test so he could see my iPad's details. After a 10 minute friendly chat, we got somewhere. He confirmed it is hardware and that the problem is known to occur in some early production units. Mine was week 41 and my iPad was manufactured on October 11 2014.

Next, I received a call from the executive relations agent who booked me in to the Apple Store on Regent Street in London, which is my local one.

I went in, explained everything, the genius read through all my notes as I have a case reference number with all the details and he chuckled when he said out loud this started with a letter to Tim Cook. We talked about the issue of popping noises and guess what...?! He'd never heard of the issue...! Sound familiar? Well, I continued with all the evidence, my discussions with the senior technician and my YouTube video as well as a live demo since I could replicate it. I loaded this discussion thread too. And again.... progress! Apparently two managers at the Regent Street store know of this issue. Their names are Naomi and Graham. I don't think I'm supposed to know that or tell you all but the whole point of me writing this is to help you.

There was only one new gold 64GB Air 2 in stock. Since I had confirmed it is a manufacturing date issue, the genius was kind enough to check the date of production on the replacement and......... October 18th 2014, week 42. My heart sank. The only unit in stock and it's one of the first run units. Well I took it hoping for the best and when I got home...... it popped about 10 seconds after the restore from backup completed and has done so several times.

The executive rang me today and I explained I'd like another replacement of a newer production unit so I’m going to get a call when they come in. It might be as soon as this weekend or as long as mid-February.

Well, that's my story so far. I feel I have made progress, confirmed it's hardware, confirmed it's affecting some early units only, found out that Apple is aware, store managers are aware and that if you have this issue, you MUST MUST report it to them and get a replacement! It'll result in them taking notice and producing improved devices.

Lastly, before some troll asks how I got Tim Cook's details, I have this new technology called Google...

Hope this has helped and inspired anyone with a faulty unit to try for a newer replacement unit. I'm looking forward to getting my second replacement and I'm told Apple will keep replacing them until I'm happy! Wonderful service from everyone I have dealt with and I’m really pleased.

Sorry to tell you that the person you spoke to likely has no idea what he's talking about as he's someone from corporate, not engineering.

I can tell you at least one of the things he said is wrong. I have a week 47 and it pops occasionally, so unless "early production" is considered anything in 2014, he just made that up.

I don't know why people post this as gospel when it's not true. Over the years, I've been called by senior Apple techs a few times as a result of posts here. The most recent time was in September. Usually they do nothing but gather info, but it means that Apple does read some threads, even if they don't respond.

Again.

I don’t what’s up at Apple but the whole story is a mess.

Presently, Apple knows much more about this issue than we know. Because of this the most of the discussion content is nonsense and is stealing us time.

Again.

1. Apple should officially ADMIT that they have a problem with Apple iPad Air 2 und should give the customers am small report about the current results.

2. Apple iPad Air 2 is a premium device. The customers exspect high quality. This is one problem of many (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6538224).

My opinion, don’t buy Apple products and ignore them at present. First they have to learn how to CARE correctly for their customers. No sales, money. This is the only language they understand.

I'm here too to see if Apple ever resolves this as I never know if my non-popping Air 2 will suddenly start. Also agree when folks post the same complaints here over and over, back and forth, "beating the dead horse" so to speak, rather than posting results of their tests that cause or reduce the problem, or luck with returning theirs, or reactions from Apple, it's a distraction and drives the page number of this thread up in a way that may not accurately reflect the depth of the problem to people who are researching a potential purchase. Just sayin'.

I had a popping iPad that was also having WiFi connection issues (which may just have been because my devices was pointed exactly180 degrees away from my AP).

Took it to the Genius Bar on 1/2 and the genius was very good, took note of this thread in his report and gave me a new iPad... And the new one doesn't pop at all, yay!

It's funny that I couldn't post this message using Safari, didn't respond at all to the JavaScript "Reply" button, I'm using Chrome.

And I once wrote Steve Jobs... I had an Apple //C that wouldn't work properly with a modem (a what? you might ask). The local store said the problem was my 'environment' and wouldn't take it back. Suddenly they decided to take it back and wondered what I did (I didn't tell them). It may have helped that jobs had a place just down the street.
