iPad air 2 pop noise

My iPad Air 2 randomly has a "Pop Noise" out of the speaker. it happens randomly about once or twice a day when touching the screen or pressing a button. Has anybody else experienced this issue? Could it be a software issue or has it more likely to do with the hardware?

That's because none of the replacement units you were given were new. Apple does not officially acknowledge the issue and therefore all iPops that get returned are wiped, put in brown boxes and thrown at those who chose to accept refurbished units as replacement. I dunno, maybe the problem can be remedied with a software update like 8.2 that will come out in a few days.

If not ,you should expect an announcement from Apple 3 or 4 years from now, offering to repair the affected units at no additional cost just as they did with the 2011 MBPs ...a couple of weeks ago!!

TThat's exactly how I made 3 of mine pop for best buy and the Apple store. This 4th one just doesn't do it as often. You know from what I've heard this screen is made different than the others so mabye it has something to do with that. i've noticed also that when charging it and using it at the same time the screen isn't as sensitive to touch and finger print reader dont work as well.

Has anyone figured out a solution to the pop noises yet?

They come in waves on my iPad Air 2 (November build). Some days it won't pop at all, others it pops nearly constantly. I just got an email and I could hear "POP - ding" from across the room. Basically any time the speaker sounds there's a chance it will POP and do so loudly.

Well the only possible solution i'm aware of is this:

Take your iPad to an Apple center, explain them the situation, then they are gonna check it.

After that 2 possible outcomes:

1) They tell you your ipad is fine and they will give it back to you, end of the story you end with an iPop.

or

2) They give you a replacement.

Now this replacement is not a new one inside its box, sealed with the charger and manuals. NO, it is what i call a refurbished one. A deviced that has been tested thoroughly before (hence it is not new), we don't know its origin either so it could be a repaired one too but apparently those don't pop.

So you have to compensate what do you prefer at the end of the day, the one that you bought new but pops or a refurbished one that doesn't pop.

I happened to be talking to a senior care Apple specialist and asked about this problem. She originally thought she had seen a support document about it a few months earlier that said Apple determined it wasn't a problem with hardware, but she couldn't find any information on it, so she wasn't sure if what she remembered was about the pop noise or not. She said if it was a hardware problem though, Apple would have an internal support document about it.

I'm fairly certain it is hardware related since the noise seems to stop occurring when the battery life drops below a certain percentage, but it doesn't seem to be causing any physical problems with the device. It's just annoying.

My understanding from reading this thread is that the replacement iPads frequently also had the popping problem. I don't want a refurbished one that also pops.

I've gotten refurbished devices before (both my iPhone 5s and iPad 2 are refurbished) and sometimes they work better than "new" ones, but I'm not going to do that if it doesn't fix the problem.

There's also the possibility the replacement could have other problems. For example there's people who insist that every iPad Air 2 has a screen distortion problem when held firmly. Mine does not and I don't want to get one that does.

I have AppleCare+ so I guess I have 2 years to make up my mind.

Well my impression so far is the following:

1) Those who had received a brand new replacement sealed on box (from bestbuy for example) they all generally pop.

2) But those who have received a refurbished one from Apple, voilá problem solved.

But that's just my impression so far, i'm not 100% sure.

Regarding the distortion issue IMO its not a defect on certain units but a lame design in general. If i hold my ipad without the smart cover and press the back hard with my fingers im gonna see distortion there.
