Yosemite Finder bug, folders get unresponsive in icon view

Same problem, it appears with Yosemite final release.

Same problem with my Mid 2014 Macbook Pro 15 inch Retina Display. I also had a 27 inch iMac late 2012 and not problems on that one.

I have the same problem on a brand new iMac 5k. I have a second screen connected and if i move the Finder window over to the other screen it gets back to working normal for some time. It seems theres something wrong with *refreshing* or so.

My experiencing same issue on my iMac Retina 5K, it happens randomly and I could not replicate the issue consistently.

Gotta wait for Apple to release bug fix 😟

I had the same trouble with finder. But I let the new Version of OnyX run over - so now everything's fine (still). No more empty windows, graphic problems with file names etc.

I've tried pretty much every solution that has been offered online for this problem with no joy. The Finder still shows most of my folders as being empty. I can get into a few of the folders in my User folder using the Finder, but for the most part I have to resort to Terminal to open anything. And it's not just in icon view, but in all views.

Just in case you missed something, here's a collection of things to try:

1. Trash the Finder Prerfeences (~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist) and restart Finder

2. Trash the Finder cache (~/Library/Caches/com.apple.finder - the entire folder) and restart Finder

3. Rebuild Spotlight indexes - System Preferences, Spotlight, Privacy - drag all disks from the Finder into the Privacy pane. Exist SysPref, then go back and remove all disks from the Privacy pane - this forces Spotlght to reindex

4. Repair Permissions (Disk Utility)

5. Clear out any temporary files, caches etc and restart the Mac. For me, the easiest way to do this is to use Onyx from Titanium Software - it's free and reliable

Doing a "me too." I have a one week old brand new iMac 5k and I've tried reinstalling yosemite, removing programs, etc., nothing has worked. Did a 45 minute chat with apple twice tonight. First person said to just exchange the computer ⚠. Second one spent a lot of time trying to look at it but nothing. Also find that files are missing but also that files have black marks when they do show. They want me to talk with a sr advisor and i've been on hold for 30 minutes now to do that.

I also found no solution to this on my new 5k iMac. I'm really thinking if i just return it. My MBP13" from 2011 has no issues. Very disappointing after all those great years with Apple products.

I Have been on the phone 50 minutes mostly waiting. On phone now. Disappointing service my last few interactions. Things have declined noticeably. Polite but no answers so far.
