Yosemite Finder bug, folders get unresponsive in icon view

I recently bought mid 2014 Retina Macbook Pro (13 inch) and immediately installed OS X Yosemite. I've noticed that, when I sometimes open Finder, I can't see i.e. my Applications in Applications folder in icon view. It shows me empty directory but when I switch to the list view it's all working.

Sometimes sleep/wake operation helps to repair that problem but not always. Just Finder gets unresponsive.

Is there any solution for this problem?

I just installed 10.10.1 - as my first upgrade to Yosemite - on a late 2013 MacBook Pro retina and am having the "Finder" problem. My desktop flashes continuously. I can use safari or any apps on the side bar, however I can't search or click on hard drive or any folder due to the flashing (or continuous starting and restarting of Finder). When I click Alt+Command+Escape, I can't force quit on Finder either. Any help is appreciated.... Thanks

I'm having the exact same issue.

Finder is being completely unresponsive and I can't relaunch it.

I've tried right clicking the icon on the dock and selecting "Relaunch, I've even tried pressing Alt+Command+Escape and selecting relaunch, nothing works.

Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

**I must also must mention that Finder is not visible on my screen.

Thanks.

This is definitely not the solution for these. If there is some interface Apple has support for third-party app, then third-party app should not be able to crash the system's Finder. My problem also solved by switch to a new fresh account. I have been using some shell scripts to customize the mac and I didn't even look at it. How stupid I am.

Since I installed Yosemite, my Finder/Search app functions have also been a living nightmare. Either documents not loading, appearing in the date "2000" instead of current date, or just taking forever (and it's a brand new Mac-Mini). I also cleared caches, ran MacKeeper a dozen times, re-installed Yosemite (after an hour phone call with Apple Support via my Apple Care, but so far Nick 101's solution has been the only one to help which is to go to your Library Folder, click on the Preferences Folder and then scroll down until you fine "com.apple.finder.plist" and delete it.

This is obviously a horrible bug and I don't know why Apple hasn't fixed it yet as it really affects the usability and enjoyment for Mac users.

Hi All,

Similar problem but here are the specifics. Running latest Yosemite as of today 28/02/15.

1: Right click on Trash in dock, select OPEN = nothing happens, no window opens at all. If I goto folder using ~/.Trash it opens the window

2: If I now click on Finder menu bar and choose Go to any folder option e.g. All My Files or Computer an empty finder window opens with the title 'Window' as below

3: To get finder working I have to relaunch it.
