iPhone keeps asking me to sign into iCloud

This morning my phone started 'wigging out' a bit regarding iCloud.

I am trying to use my phone as I normally do and it keeps asking me for my iCloud password every time I tap my screen or try to type.

This is ridiculous as I never signed into iCloud nor do I use it.

Now, I do have an iCloud account from like 4 years ago that I used once when my husband had to have his phone replaced and they backed up stuff there for him from the Apple store, but since then it's not been logged into nor used.

So, with this constant interruption while trying to type a text message to a friend, I checked my settings for iCloud and it does show my name but not that I'm logged in that I can tell. Everything is turned off in there. BUT, if I scroll to the bottom of the screen it says "log out". I never logged in. So, if I click that it tells me that "Deleting this account will remove it's data from your phone".

Now how can simply logging out of something I never logged into turn into a deletion of the account?

Powering down the phone and then booting it back up again does nothing. I still get that prompt to enter my password on every tap of the screen. In fact, it made it worse. My phone is useless at the moment due to the constant pop up prompts for my password.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

One more question - what data will be 'removed' exactly? iCloud or all my phone data?

Attitude of service? No, that has nothing to do with human decency. It sounds far more like some sort of religious vow or obligation. You are really taking a user-to-user technical support forum way to seriously. I feel no "attitude of service" toward you. Sorry.

How to stop iCloud from asking you to repeatedly sign in on iPhone

  1. Launch the Settings app.
  2. Tap on iCloud.
  3. Scroll all the way to the bottom and tap Sign Out.
  4. Tap Sign Out in the popup menu.
  5. Tap *Delete from My iPhone** in the second popup menu.
  6. Type in your password to disable Find My iPhone if you're prompted and tapTurn Off.
  7. Once you are signed out of iCloud, reboot your iPhone or iPad by holding down the power and Home button until you see the Apple logo.
  8. Sign back into iCloud in the Settings app.

I only encounter this issue after updating to a major new version of iOS or after restoring with iTunes. This solution seems to fix the problem each time. Hopefully it fixes it for you too! And as always, if anyone else has any other suggestions, be sure to leave them in the comments!

Chris - I have tried repeatedly to follow your suggestion - log out of iCloud, reboot phone, and re log into iCloud and it has not worked. How do I do something further to get rid of this, and successfully sign in to iCloud? It concerns me because I am about to renew my annual subscription to iTunes Match so I can stream my own music collection on any device including this older iPhone 4S. I only use this older iPhone on WiFi to stream Pandora and my music using the Music app. I can stream using Pandora1 (behind the repeated iCloud sign in window) but cannot get to my own music using Music on the phone. It won't show my playlists or my complete library. Any further thoughts or suggestions?

Although I am late to the party, I completely agree. The reason I came here today because I have the same problem as the OP.

It's way long overdue, the likes of these higher level contributors (are they really contributing or flaming)? need to be moderated and Apple should impose a tighter and shorter leash while holding them to a higher standard. These posters do nothing but encourage others to post elsewhere and act for the most part, like bullies.

My iPhone started doing this a couple of days ago, however, when I follow your directions above, during the time I am typing my password the box closes then reopens, I enter my password and it continues to close and reopen whether I enter the password or hit cancel. I don't use my iPhone for a lot on the internet, I use my iPad instead, because my phone is 16 GB. However 4-5 days ago I did use it for about an hour Saturday nite and it started this on Sunday a.m. It is driving me nuts. It is impossible to text. Any suggestions? Thank you.

I agree, but people are using the "helpful" button here as AGREE.

Note that, as happens all too often here, and elsewhere on the Internet, people answer even when they have nothing or bad information. Notice that none of the comments here about the original post are helpful.

I, and apparently about 500 other people have had this problem now for a while ... and we'd really like to know what is going on.
