How do I transfer my photos from my mac/iphoto library to my iPhone6?

Yeah, I've grown to hate iTunes and iCloud. It's so unintuitive that I frequently find myself on this discussion forum trying, often without success, to do something that should be easy, like transferring a picture from iPhoto to my iPhone.

APPLE products are just too hard, so much time is wasted trying to get or understand how things work. Years ago APPLE products were simple and easy to use.

I use to be able to plug in my iPhone to my MACPro and it would automatically transfer my pictures Life was sweet ,but now for what ever reason I can not download any pictures

I agree with so many of the comments posted by others - especially dgrassi. I want to give some pictures of an event to a friend. She brings her ipad to my mac - we connect the two - why is it then a problem to simply drag and drop pictures (or a folder) from one device to the other...

Come on Apple. This is someone else's ipad - we don't want to get into icloud and set up sharing and permissions and all that b*****it. When the devices connect iphoto immediately starts downloading 2,000 photos off her ipad onto my Mac - NO. I just want to give her 34 photos off my machine. Why is that difficult?

You don't need to worry about this. Actually, except from iTunes and iCloud, you can apply other ways to transfer your photos from Mac or photos library to your iPhone 6. For example, you can transfer the data directly from your Mac to iPhone or use iPhone Transfer which can transfer photos between iPhone and computer including Windows and Macbook. What I said is just from my opinion, you can apply it to do transfer.

It's mid 2015, if anything using Mac and iPhone is worse for photography .

I am a competent in using Photoshop but seriously trying to do any photography other than using for storage in MACPRO has been the most frustrating thing. I had my MACPRO built larger so I could use "the better graphics' for my work. WILL BE returning to PC as soon as I can.

In my opinion, iTunes can be helpful to deal with most issues regarding iPhone, of course including photos transfer from computer to iPhone. It is so simple to handle and you can do it in this way: on your computer, put the photos you want to transfer all into a folder called iPhone Photos or whatever. Sync that folder to your iPhone using iTunes by plugging in your phone and making sure it's selected in the sync options panel. And then you can transfer photos from Mac Library to iPhone 6. But I have to remind you that you'd better put all photos in the same folder, including those have been sent already, because after iTunes sync, the previous data will be covered.

For those still looking for an easy answer, it has arrived.

1. get your free upgrade of Apple OSX

2. Open the Photos app and give your computer time to migrate your old iPhoto library to the new app Photos.

3. Go to the Photos Preferences and turn on iCloud. If you have a very large photo library, you may have to purchase iCloud space, but it is more than reasonable, $2.99 for 200 gig.

4. Give your computer time to upload photos to iCloud.

5. On iphone, go to settings/ iCloud/photos, turn iCloud photo library on, and click to optimize iPhoto storage, and upload to my photo stream should be on.

Ta-Da

you never have to connect anything to have all your photos on your phone and computer. Any picture you take on your phone is automatically on your computer...And.. any photo in your Photos app on your computer is viewable on your phone.

I have a similar question but it is for a video rather than a photo file.

I have a video file on my MacBook Air. I have added it to my iPhoto Library. However, I haven't found a way to then get the video (via ITunes, or some other means) into the iPhoto Library on my iPad.

Yes, I can drag/drop the video file to the iPad but the video goes into the "Videos" app on the iPad. I need it to go into the iPad's iPhoto Library.

What is the recommended way to do this? Thanks!

This is not a wonderful thing. I'm sorry but this is like the worst thing. Our iMac is shared, I do not want to see everybodies crap on my photostream. Vice versa I do not want my family seeing my crap! All I want to do is grab and drop some holiday photos from the iMac onto my phone so I can share/show a few and Apple is making it so hard. Why would they make this so cumbersome?

You can do this (for example) using Dropbox. Place the photo(s) in your Mac's Dropbox folder. Then use the DB app on your phone to save the image(s) to Photos. There are other apps that work like this. E.g., Mail, Evernote,...

I have a few select pics that I want to transfer from my older Mac (still using OS 10.5.8) to my new iphone 6 plus. It *should* be a simple drag and drop exercise in iPhoto, but it's not. Why?

Use iCloud? Really? That's just dumb for such a simple task like this. Is anyone at Apple listening? Perhaps this sort of thing is why your stock has plummeted recently. I've been a loyal Apple user since 1984. For the first time, I'm considering another platform. Sigh.
