Yosemite OS UI animation lag

Has anyone installed the 10.10.2 update yet? Those who have are saying Yosemite is much speedier.

Installed on my iMac mid 2010, things are smooth, but I worked only for about an hour after the update.

I haven't installed yet on my MBPr mid 2014..I'll wait a few more days, just in case, because it's my main work machine 🙂.

Please post any feedback on the forum, to know whether it's safe to proceed or not..

I installed 10.10.2 on MBPr early 2013, I've used it all evening and the animation is smooth.

Great! I've downloaded the full installer, just haven't gotten around to applying it yet.

I installed the update to my imac mid 2011 and it did not fix the ui lag for me

Hi, installed 10.10.2 and it seems to have fixed the problem, even when transparency is on.🙂

Most reports I've read have a the consensus high to the plus side. Still haven't installed it on my end. Too busy.

In my experience with 10.1.0.2 it is not fixed when there is an external monitor connected. The menu re-draw problem still occurs which eventually leads to performance degradation. My 2010 Macbook Pro seems to even get to a point where it now crashes if left turn on over an extended period of time.

I've been in contact with Apple and so far we've identified two triggers: Little Snitch's activity monitor and iStat Menu's monitors. Disable them or other permantently re-drawing menubar items, and your problems should reduce significantly. Please write a short answer if it helps you.

Disabling little snitch activity monitor and stat menu monitor fixed the lag issue i had on my 27" imac mid 2011 🙂

Same problem here... I just bought new Macbook Retina. Very annoying. 😕

I finally installed 10.10.2 and Apple fixed a lot of issues. I do use OnyX to turn off all eye candy. Doing that eliminates all of the jerky folder movement and other useless animations. Folders simply snap open and closed without any animation.

I've been using it as my main OS now for a couple of weeks. No slow downs of any kind using Photoshop and many other apps all day.

Had the same problem, and the Increase contrast option fixed it.

Then i found this blog post http://www.yosemite-ui-lag-fix.com which says, that it also fixes the problem, if you hide almost all menu bar items.

Works for me, without the Increase contrast option !

It's really interesting, neither contrast option nor Bartender doesn't work for me. Will Apple fix this bug? Any announcement?

I think I solved this problem! I had the same issue with my retina MacBook Pro 15 (mid 2014) with Iris. Simply do not use the resolution 1920x1200!!! If you change to 2048x1280 (with Display Menu or other tool) the animation and scroll lag gone!! It is also gone on higher resolutions (x1600, x1800)! Just compare both resolution (1280 and 1200) with Mission Control animation or with this site: miutcank.hu. This site heavily lagging on 1200 both Chrome and Safari. But on 1280 it is scrolling completely smooth!! Moreover, Chrome will be much smoother than Safari. It is very interesting why only this (System present!) resolution lags.
