Yosemite Calendar - Outlook/Exchange calendar events keep updating and sending out invitations to participants

Yosemite Calendar keeps modifying outlook events on my calendar and sending out invites to participants even though I have not changed the event in any way. Anyone know if there is a setting that I can change to fix this issue?

There is another strange behavior I've seen which might be related as well.

If I open an existing recurring event (which I created and invited others and they accepted), and then close it, I am asked if I want to update only this even, or all future events, even though the event has not been updated. Choosing "revert" does nothing. So I have to choose either to update this even or all future events. And then when I do, everyone who was an invitee gets three or four new invitations for this event *which has not changed or been edited!*

So annoying!

I had not faced this issue until just recently without any change on settings or installed applications. One week the calendar app was playing nicely with Exchange calendar events, the next week it wasn't. Although I don't know for sure, given that it was once working and is now not, possibly between the two states of working and not working I received a malformed invitation or an invitation which the calendar app could not handle correctly which messed with the way the calendar app handles Exchange events.

I do not have Outlook installed on my mac, and use the built-in Mac Calendar and Mail apps with my Exchange account.

Calendar invites were being sent to colleagues and clients repeatedly, even old ones which had had no changes made to them. I talked with a couple of frineds and colleagues and they have seen this behaviour too. This issue basically makes exchange calendar events unusable on a mac.

Since this was becoming extremely annoying for clients to deal with and created an unprofessional appearance, since there is no choice but to use Exchange calendar invites for work reasons, the only working solution I have found is to completely remove calendar use on my exchange account and use alternative devices for calendar management.

The problem did occur in 10.10.2 sporadically, but not in 10.10.3 any more for me. So I guessed it has been solved. Now I am on 10.10.4 and have the problem again – and now it is even worse: now every meeting I have set up with invitees triggers this issue. In absolutely any case: as soon as I click the reminder to snooze or cancel it, event updates are sent to all invitees. Very annoying bug.

I am using Exchange, of course.

Interesting that you all are blaming Yosemite. I am still running Mavericks and I just recently started seeing this happen for me in Outlook. It started about the same time Office updated to 14.5.3. I've got some older issues fixed with the last update, which I'm happy to see go away, but then this started to occur so I went Google searching and found this thread.

I would suggest this is a Microsoft Office issue not an Apple OS issue except that it's also seen in iCal. Very disappointed that there isn't a clear-cut diagnosis.
