Yosemite Calendar - Outlook/Exchange calendar events keep updating and sending out invitations to participants

If you are using MS Exchange email / Office365 exchange, the following link describes the limitations for the OS X Mail and Calendar, for me in Business i prefer to use MS Outlook with MS Exchange mail system.

A really simple, 5 second solution for Apple to implement, which would make the difference between a waste of space of the hard drive and a usable piece of software, would be to catch if a notification is about to be sent and present the user with an 'Are You Sure' dialog before proceeding.

"There is no way to prevent these notifications, even if nothing has changed"

No joke. It's really unthinkable that the problem has persisted for nearly a year.

Hopefully it will be resolved in El Capitan. Has anyone tried the BETA?

The release notes for OS X 10.10.5 state that it "improves compatibility with certain e-mail servers when using mail."

Early testing looks promising. Has anyone else tried 10.10.5?

I'm downloading the update now, and plan to check the calendar app later today, but I'm hoping that it will be resolved.

Multiple test have shown good things. I'm updating my MacBook Pro (Work laptop) now and will cross my fingers.

I added my Exchange account back into the calendar on the 18th, and have been using it as normal since then. So far I have not seen any recurrence of the problem. It seems to be fixed. 🙂

Spoke too soon, still not fixed - I heard back from some colleagues today that they have received fresh meeting invites for past meetings, without any actual update to the meetings.

Means that the Mac calendar app is still unsuitable for professional or business use.

Interesting. No problems for me so far on 2 different Macs.

I have not seen an occurrence of the problem either lately but I do not schedule many meetings.

Any update? On 10.10.5 but hesitant to re-configure Mail.app and Calendar.app with my Exchange server if this is still happening...

The original problem seems to be resolved. I have not had any e-mails sent when I snooze or dismiss meetings. That's the good news. (great news)

I am seeing 2 new odd behaviors. However, they are not deal breakers for me. I'll stick with Mail.app and Calendar.app for now. Those issue are:

When changing a single instance of a reoccurring meeting, 3 calendar notifications are sent. In my case, most of my reoccurring meetings are on custom schedules. (IE: 3 Wednesday of each month) This may be related. So, in the example case, if I move the next meeting to the Tuesday before, 3 notifications are sent. My theory is that this is due to the custom schedule and the three notifications are:

• Change to orginal meeting series
• Delete the Wednesday meeting
• Creation of new Tuesday meeting

The other issue is with Hotmail. (I have multiple account synced with Mail.app.) Each time I send a mail with Hotmail, 2 are sent. I've tested this and verified on 2 different Macs. Both are running 10.10.5 and this issue did not happen in previous versions.

Again, these are not deal breakers for me and I'll deal with these instead of going back to Outlook.

Any changes to a reoccurring meeting are problematic. If you try to check availability of an existing meeting, non-reoccruign, Calendar sends out new invites every time you try to click on a new time without prompting you to confirm the new time.

Wondering why you chose the name bockbock, we used to use that as hostname "bock-bock" at Cisco ;-)
