iTunes 12 for iMac won't recognize any devices

Just upgraded to iTunes 12. Now none of my device (iPhone 6, iPhone 5, iPad, iPod) are recognized. All. Connections are good, never had an issue before. Tried uninstallIngrid but iMac won't let me delete iTunes to reinstall. All settings are good and have tried powering off and on.

I am keen for a fix as well. Restarting the computer works for a while but then the issue invariably comes back in a few hours or so.

The terminal command doesn't seem to work for me. None of my iOS devices (iPhone 6, iPhone 5 and iPad 3) are recognised by any applications including Image Capture, iTunes or iPhoto they don't even charge via the USB. They don't even show up as wireless sync in iTunes (so its not the cable, besides the cable works fine after a restart).

Keen for some fix! Starting to feel like some of the angrier people on these threads...I moved away from Wintel PCs because of this kind of thing! At this rate, Apple will have to retire their "It Just Works" catchphrase because right now, for many people "it just doesn't".

Worked for me!! Thanks!

Just bought an iPad 2 and was expecting plug and play but had to search thoroughly before stumbling onto this solution. Restarting THE DEVICE is key! I tried restarting my iMac, removing the firewall on my iMac, changing settings, nothing worked. It never occurred to me to just restart the iPad.

It turns out the device has to allow a sync to the main computer by requiring a 'Trust' confirmation. It's a real hassle that after syncing to iCloud, at the store, and it showing up as an authorized new device on the Account settings page of iTunes, you can't plug this device in and sync it in iTunes without a struggle. Shame on you Apple, I love you but you're killing me.
