Permissions problem when importing file in Final Cut Pro X 10.1.3

HHow are the drives formatted?

Just had this same issue. Was working with this project earlier today and went to import new videos now I get the "Not Writeable" error.

Are you using managed media or external media? Where is the media trying to be stored that produces the error? What are the read/write permissions for that folder or library or the area you're trying to safe the media?

My library is local and is located in ~/Movies/

Did you repair permissions for the drive?

What OS are you using? Did you update to Yosemite? Did you do a clean install?

all the media is located in my one library, yes did the permission repair. I upgraded to yosemite didnt start this project until after that it was not a clean install

I got that line from terminal

If you're using external media, where is the media going to when it's being imported? What's the Finder permission for that folder? Not the Terminal string.

I also just attempted to add a new "Library" under ~/Movies then added a new "event" and "project" that went fine....when I tried to import new media it threw me the same "Directory is not Writable" error

It looks like you are using managed media; you have the media set to go into the library, or are there just a lot of render files in there?

You might try reinstalling the application, but I think it needs to have Yosemite rebuilt as a clean install. Putting a new OS on top of an existing one always seems to lead to problems.

all the media goes into that library.

I tried setting up a new library/event/project on my Desktop just for kicks and that isnt writeable.

This is not what I need to happen on the last day of my 2 week project but ill try to reinstall FCPX then I guess Yosemite =/

I am just guessing here, but you said you use an external as a "scratch disk"... what exactly do you mean? Are you storing render files there?

If so, I bet the error refers to a directory in the external disk, not the library itself.

Please do the following: select the library in the browser, and open the Inspector and tell us what you see for storage locations. Post a screenshot, if possible.

Called AppleCare....they determined something was horribly wrong. Was not able to import anywhere on my drive. We tested a new user and FCPX worked just fine under that user. So something is messed up in the OS with that user where up until last night everything was peachy. Might have happened during the os upgrade.

I'm finishing this project under my new user then reinstalling this whole OS tomorrow
