iPad Air 2 touch sensitivity problems

I purchased and iPad Air 2 two days ago. I noticed the screen had sensitivity problems around the outer edges which were apparent when trying to use the keyboard. Keys such as "Q," the microphone button and then pressing "done" as well as the character keyboard button and switching between various keyboards, etc. where not responding well to touch. I exchanged it for another one the next day, brought it home and it exhibited the same problems. Brought the second one back the store and the two sales associates noted the same thing only they had not come across this before. They brought out another one which I tried at the store and it had the same unresponsive key problems. Each iPad exhibited different degrees of this problem. Bouncing between keys "q" "a" "z" in rapid succession or trying to select the different character keyboards at the very bottom of the screen made the problem. Sometimes trying to compose an email or deleting one using the icons at the top of the screen exited the same problems. That was three iPad Air 2's. Several demo units exhibited the same problem while several others did not. Is this a defective manufacturing issue or a potential design flaw associated with the new laminated layers of screen?

I Have the same issue with my iPad air 2 and iPhone 6 plus as well as iPad mini 2 retina (after upgrading to iOS 8). based on my experience with iOS 8 and Yosemite OS X, I reckon neither iOS 8 nor Ysemite OS X are successful operating systems. On the ios 8 safari you have to tap twice to open a webpage. And often times you have to keep tapping on a button to open a page. Same thing goes for iPhone. The same problem. Even more problems with iPhone, when is on a sleeping mode and try to wake up by pressing the home button, the screen initially opens in a gray scale before it slowly transitions to the normal home screen. It takes almost 2 seconds to open the home screen. This happens often especially during the cold wether when the phone has been exposed to the chill for a few minutes. But then where do you get such a severe cold wether in LA?

SAfari in in particular frustrates me a lot because feels like using an old computer from early 90s when you had to double click on the mouse to browse around On iOS 8 Safari. Most of the times you have to zoom in pretty close to enable a touch of a link On the safari. I experienced similar problems on Yosemite safari. Both Opreparing systems came out very unsuccessful in 2014.

2014 was very unsuccessful year in many ways. My lucky and fortunate years are the odd years. Already tested. Apple definitely needs an overhaul on iOS 8 and Yosemite OS X. They already released the 10.10.3 Beta. That shows a kind of unsuccessful OS it was, that it barely came out not long ago and it already has a major fix to it.

it almost seems as if both OS are based on the same platform, when it come to Safari and typing. While typing on the MacBook pro keyboar, all of a sudden the cursor jumps to the middle of the text and messes up entire typing. This happens with bot iOS 8 and Yosemite. They both have a major glitch in them.

the more Apple try to anoise their screen the more it becomes defiant to touch sensitivity.

I've purchased iPad Air 2 this week, and was VERY frustrated with all sensitivity problems. My fingers were in pain very quickly. Thanks to guys here who mentioned to change to Apple's original charger, I am OK now. No more frustrations. I didn't expect this move from Apple, but at least now I know where the problem was :-) ... Thanks guys again :-)

I went through 2 iPad Air 2's with this sensitivity problem and returned both of them!

I will wait for the 3rd generation which I'm sure will include a proper touch sensor/laminate

combination and stick with my iPad Air 1st gen which works flawlessly! Apple is having

multiple issues with both the iPad and Macbooks. The price paid for the thinness is too much!

yep! I just had the same thing with after market dual usb wall outlet. ipad went crazy with predictive text spitting out several letters with just tapping one and switching back to another app when trying to add an event to calendar. Ultimate was to initiate a phone call to my son in another time zone. Not happy Jan but back to original charger and in the bin for the new one.

sseems to be a fairly universal issue more than likely with IOS 8.x.. iPad Air II for Christmas this year and conitinually have to deselect webpage links, etc.. Not all the time, and I've reset my Air a number of times. also sometimes notice a substantial delay. similar to the MS Windows delays when typing. Waiting for background processes to finish what they are doing, before the OS catches up to you. Interestingly it doesn't happen often, however it does happen more times and I typically don't have a lot going on or running on the Air when this happens. netween the touchscreen issue where you are touching is not being picked up a number of times, seems to be very frequent with Safari. I'll have to download and try out a few of the other browsers to see if the same issue exists or not. Would be really super if Apple corrected this. I just started looking into this issue today and I can't beliebe how many posts are online regardimg this issue, so it is not an isolated issue, Apple.. Cough, cough..

I've only just bought my iPad Air 2 and am getting this problem even when using the supplied lead and charger. Unplugged it works fine and perfectly as expected. Plug it in and it becomes totally erratic.

As I am a heavy user I do need to have my iPad plugged in a lot of the time and this issue is making it totally useable. This is completely unacceptable for a flagship product as far as I'm concerned. So unless Apple can come up with an answer, this beautiful product will be getting returned and I'll be heading over to Android. It's such a shame.

I wonder if it's possible to get a refund on the huge amount of apps I've bought over the years? I doubt it, what a waste...😠

GUYS, AFTER SPENDING MANY DAYS TRYING TO SOLVE THE ISSUES. I THINK I KNOW THE CULPRIT.

What I found out:

I just switch from iPad 2 to iPad Air 2 and realized that the touch screen problem is really annoying; I use stylus and do a lot of writing.

1. I don't think it's a hardware issue, even though Apple implemented a new screen technology. In fact, it should be better.

2. Reset All does help. I saw so many people doing this. So did I. And it does help. But, not for long.

3. When charging, touch screen completely misbehaves. And it's much better when I disconnect the power cord. (I'll explain in a minute)

For example, I use bioprotect cydia app to lock ipad. When charging, fingerprint detection doesn't work at all. But when I disconnect, fingerprint detection works llike charm!!

The problem, I believe, is "iOS software". iPad Air 2 has function to conserve battery life, switching itself between refresh and standby mode. In standby mode, iPad conserves battery life and also touch screen function. When you touch the screen, it wakes iPad up and be ready for the input. That cause a delay. And you know what, switching between standby and refresh mode happen constantly (many times per second). I believe that apple is trying to work that out soon.
