iPad Air 2 freezes from time to time

I had an iPad Air (1) for a year or so .... it never froze up. I moved to a new iPad Air 2 when it came out. It freezes up from time to time. Maybe a couple times a day, then I might go day or so when it doesn't freeze, and then it will do it again. The screen just freezes. I have to reboot it each time it does this. And there's no discernible pattern to what might be triggering it. It can happen in any app, or when I tap on any app.

I know I can try doing a restore (I'd rather not... I really hate doing that... takes forever). I'll do a restore if this becomes a real problem. It's interesting that for the year I owned the iPad Air (1), it NEVER froze -- it was rock solid. In the couple weeks I've had the iPad Air 2, it's freezed up on me probably about 10 times. I'm hoping that perhaps an update will address this (unless, of course, I have a lemon).

I'm wondering if any one else has encountered this. Thanks....

I Have an iPad air 2 wifi 64GB.

It was crashing to the apple logo. On safari and sometimes other apps.

After a few few weeks I can now confirm that iOS 8.1.2 fixes all crashes. My iPad has been perfectly solid for weeks, constantly on safari and the update has no effect on battery life. I still get between 12-18hours usage and 2-4 days standby.

It is perfect now. I won't update anymore.

BTW, my updates are always done through iTunes, never wifi. So I downloaded the entire 2GB update and let it reinstall the whole thing. My iPad Air 2 came installed with 8.1.

HI, I had the dreaded black screen appear last night. I was in the middle of gmail, it froze and went black. I tried to reboot with just the power button. No response. I tried the hard reboot with power and home button. No response. I put my iPad Air 2 (which I've had since 31 Oct 14) on the charger and let it sit for about 30 mins. I tried the power button. No response. The hard reboot started something...it went immediately to a black screen with lower case "ls" , a few seconds later Siri typed that it was not available. I turned it off again since the buttons would not respond. FINALLY, after another 15 mins, the Apple logo came up, THEN the update reminder.

This morning, the keyboard is having issues and trying to type this message has been frustrating. Keyboard is freezing intermittently.

I am running 8.1.3

It's not looking very good.

I've gone through 2 iPad air 2's and just returned the 2nd one today. Very disappointed that it seems this is a chronic problem. The telephone apple support person, though very diligent in going through hours of software fixes, including a restore, didn't seem to think there was a widespread problem. I hadn't checked here until today to see that this it wasn't just me having the problem. It is an annoying malfunction & left me wondering if it will get worse over time instead of better. Maybe they'll figure out what's wrong & fix it, I'll wait till they do to get another one. Are you going to return it? I'm going to follow your post to see if you are happy in the future if you aren't. Luckily I'm not stuck with a lemon iPad. I'm another unhappy customer.
