iPad Air 2 freezes from time to time

I had an iPad Air (1) for a year or so .... it never froze up. I moved to a new iPad Air 2 when it came out. It freezes up from time to time. Maybe a couple times a day, then I might go day or so when it doesn't freeze, and then it will do it again. The screen just freezes. I have to reboot it each time it does this. And there's no discernible pattern to what might be triggering it. It can happen in any app, or when I tap on any app.

I know I can try doing a restore (I'd rather not... I really hate doing that... takes forever). I'll do a restore if this becomes a real problem. It's interesting that for the year I owned the iPad Air (1), it NEVER froze -- it was rock solid. In the couple weeks I've had the iPad Air 2, it's freezed up on me probably about 10 times. I'm hoping that perhaps an update will address this (unless, of course, I have a lemon).

I'm wondering if any one else has encountered this. Thanks....

The restarting was fixed for me several patches back but now i find that Safari crashes spes when searching.

Not often but few times every other day.

Also noticed when i go in on site i go into several times a day the loading of the site is very slow. When scrolling down it takes a few secs to load the pictures.

Only way to fix it that i have to clear cache.

I'm really frustrated with this same problem. This is my first Apple product and am actually very disappointed because of the problem. I have Ipad 2 air 16gb wifi. Some games cannot be even played because they crash so much. Crashes happen with all apps / games. Even Hay day from Supercell crashes daily basis. Hopefully they can fix this soon. I bet the reason is the 64bit architecture.

IPad Air 2 freezing, from apps to safari browser, on safari every time I go to clean the history of websites it freezes.

this is just ridiculous , I hope apple should look in to it on priority basis .

so many bugs now a days on all this.

been to Apple Store and Apple Store guys have only one solution reset and set it up as new, they do not know how to fix the issue , poor training .

😟

Because everyone's configuration is different, it's hard to pinpoint what is causing the issue.

Try a general Reset

Settings->Generel->Reset->Reset All Settings. You won't lose any data but will have to log back in to your wifi network(s)

Also, check to see what apps may be running in the backgound, as one of them may be causing the issue.

Settings->General->Background App Refresh. Toggle it off & see if the issue continues.

I upgraded from an iPad 2 to an iPad Air 2, just two weeks ago.

I had no problems whatsoever with email on the iPad 2.

My iPad Air 2 freezes whenever I go into email and I have to re-boot. After re-booting, I have one (and only one) chance to enter email and delete/read/reply to the emails. After I exit email, whenever I re-enter I find that I cannot open/delete/scroll/etc. and have to exit and then once again re-boot in order to gain access.

Other than email, my iPad Air 2 seems to work just fine.

Apple needs to correct email, ASAP!!!

Just happened the first time, only had iPad Air 2 64gb wifi about two weeks :/ So disappointing compared to the quality of Mac, but even that has been deteriorating lately. The only thing I pinpointed as a possible cause is a background filter set to low light (since Apple won't permit f.lux in the App Store, and the backlighting is killer at night). Currently cleaning out any accumulated files, and turned the filter off, to see if that helps. It's still ridiculous for such a new (and expensive) electronic to be malfunctioning across the board like this.

I have the same problem. I have a ipad air 2 16gb wifi. IOS 9.1 installed.

Does anyone have the same problem configuring it as a new ipad without importing the backup of the previous iPad?

So far (it's only yesterday that I own but the freeze has already happened 4-5 times!) I have not tried to use it as a new iPad but only by importing the backup; If the problem persists I will do it but what I read does not seem to this problem.

It's a hardware problem? My ipad is on warranty until January 2016.

I have been having the same problem lately with my iPad Air 2 (Wi-Fi, 64gb, IOS 9.0). The touchscreen is unresponsive at times. I did a reset and it came back. Sometimes when I lift the cover to "wake" my iPad, it doesn't turn on unless I press the home button. There is no rhyme or reason as to when this happens. I could be on Safari, using an App, looking at pictures or responding to a message. I'm in somewhat of a panic cause stupid me didn't add AppleCare. It'll cost close to $400 for Apple to check and repair if there are any issues with it. I've had it a little over a year and the warranty expired on 11/4. I'm checking Black Friday sales to replace it for less than Apple would charge to fix. I was wondering if maybe the screen protector on it could cause issues. Hopefully this is a software issue that can be fixed with an update and not hardware.
