Just received my Apple iPad Air 2 and have had problems not experienced with previous iPad. It is stuck on landscape and does't change to portrait position when tablet is turned. There is no button for rotation and nothing in Settings to turn it on. I've tried pressing 'on' button and off button, holding them down for 10-15 seconds to bring up Apple logo, but this hasn't worked. Anyone know how to correct the problem?

Hi 4coffee. Do you have iPad Air 2? Ave you updated to iOS 10.3.2? This link: Re: Screen rotation not working summarizes some tricks that might help. Restarting the iPad, power off not just sleep, should certainly fix it, until it happens again. You should certainly report this to Apple at this link: Feedback - iPad - Apple.
Many of us are having this issue (about 6 months now) even though we have the orientation lock turned off.
iOS 11.2 iPad air 2 and still have this irritating snafu. Unpredictable, irritating, and unacceptable for such an expensive device. ðŸ˜

Hi Tlmark. Just to be sure, is yours an iPad Air 2? If so, this is a great piece of info. Please report this to Apple at this link: Using iPad. It might help them identify the cause of the problem.
The physical button was - I believe - eliminated on the new iPad. If you swipe up from the bottom you should open Control center and there will be an orientation lock button to tap there> Should look like a circular arrow with a lock inside.
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen (just above the Home button) to bring up Control Center. The Rotation Lock toggle (looks like a pad lock) resides there because there is now no longer a physical switch on the Air 2.
My iPad 2 Air often gets stuck in a certain rotation, despite rotation lock not being on. Turning off and on the iPad (not resetting, just quickly hitting the power button and then pressing home again to turn it on) fixes it, but this is pretty annoying, and getting to be more frequent and near-consistent.

same here I'm using an iPad Air 2 32gb iOS 10.1.1 the issue is random. Sometimes the power button helps, and some others I need to full turn it off and on again. I try removing the case (to avoid the magnets to influence the sensor) and get the same result.

Hi. Have you specifically tried turning off Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion? That has worked for some users.
