iPhone 6 plus messages app freezing crashing iOS 6.1

When opening sms or iMessage messages, screen will regularly pause for 10-15 seconds on a blank white screen to reload content, or if a lock screen shortcut takes me directly to the messages app it will freeze with just the last text bubble visible (no previous messages, no keyboard) for 10-15 seconds before loading.

Resetting iMessage from off to on, and resetting network settings has shown very limited success, but only for a matter of minutes before reverting. Often after 10-15 seconds, the app will crash before reloading.

I have also attempted to do a factory reset and then restore from backup (of the 6 plus) and the problem persists.

I am having the same issue i have the iphone 6 128gb. Ever since i updated to ios 8.3 the messaging app keeps freezing several times a day, i took it to the apple store and they said you have to restore the phone, so i bought sms imessage backup app so i wouldnt lose my texts...restored the phone and then put the texts back on it and same problem again...i then disabled the emoji keyboard and instead of freezing every 5 minutes when i try to open the messages app it only freezes every 10 minutes.

now WHAT THE **** is going on, apple cant be this incompetent to screw over its users this way, ive been using apple products since 1999 and I am very disappointed with the way its been going downhill the last couple of years. put out a fix now and stop running your customers around in circles!

and no i wont restore my phone again i wasted a whole day trying to do that and get my stuff back on it and it still didnt work.

i never post on messages boards but this has me furious as my whole job and life relies on me getting messages and sending messages efficiently

Add me to the list of people who can't use Messages a significant percent of the time.

It will not toggle on in Settings, once the page finally opens.

Frequently, I just get a blank white page, followed by one with lines where different old messages would be, but they're not there.

When this happens, closing the app out is difficult to do.

I spent an hour this morning just getting a Genius Bar appointment. (Apparently, this is something Apple wishes to discourage.)
After I explained how many fixes I attempted, including resets, each of which took hours, Apple replaced my phone.

What they didn't do is tell me about installing the latest iOS updates BEFORE restoring the phone from iCloud.
(The power was out at the Apple Store, and I had to go elsewhere to do this.)
After several hours -- yes, several hours -- of doing restores. . . no fix.

The new phone is behaving just as the old one did.

I work in a part of town where muggings are quite common.

Bus arrival times are available by text message.

It's a shame that this phone, epitome of human technology that it is advertised to be, is useless for obtaining information that might help at all with safety. (But hey, Game Center will log right in!)

This will be my last Apple product. As my MacBook, iMac, and iPad die, they will be replaced with items that will no doubt cause as much irritation, but at least won't also clear out my bank account as thoroughly as Apple products do.

Now the iMessage Search isn't working 😟 Just a white screen. If I scroll down, there the friend's name is but the search cannot find it. On top of that, when I type a message and press send it says "SENDING...." for wayyyyy too long. I then have to do a soft reset and restart my phone and then the messages are gone as if I never typed them and pressed send in the first place. So I retype and resend and it finally worked. Still having issues with the freezing keyboard and still having white screen non-sense every other time I try to open iMessage. WHAT IS HAPPENING APPLE? Fix please. It's ridiculous. This is a $900 iPhone 6+ and shouldn't be having stupid issues like this.

The problem seems to be getting worse, I don't know what triggers it but right when I need it the messages app freezes to load and gives me a new message screen, then when I type in my contacts name it goes to no name. I have to reset my phone at least a minimum of 5 times a day to remedy the problem. Now I'm contemplating if I need to carry my iPad instead of my phone for reliability. Hope for a fix soon.

Add me to the list too. And as someone who is also experiencing increasingly longer freezes and more system wide issues. It started as a few seconds lock-up in the messages app and now it's spread to not being able to do many things for sometimes a minute, including shut-down apps by swiping up after a double click of the home button. It seems to be related to touch input with other controls unaffected. How do we get this issue addressed by Apple? Their newest and top of the range iPhone 6 plus has serious usability issues.

Unfortunately I'm experiencing similar problems and none of these solutions has helped thus far. I have been trying to delete text messages from my iPhone 6 for over a month now. Sometimes they appear to go away, but no matter what, if I delete one, or multiple ones, or if I wait an hour between deletions, if I use the slider and red delete key, or if I use the edit/trash icon, my message app will freeze up and be unusable. I can't even get to it in Settings. I have to restart the phone EVERY time. And once I go back into Messages, anything that I thought I had deleted is right back where it was before!

I have chatted with Apple Support who had me do a reset, and it didn't work either. They recommended a full restore, which I am reluctant to do based on the time involved. What a pain - I'm so frustrated, because like all of you I rely on messages as my most frequently used app.

I've even changed my settings to delete messages over 30 days old, but still I have texts from 2.5 years ago.

Assuming my problem is similar to those on this chat, I will offer that my problems seemed resolved after a restore, which was very easy to do. However, the camera freezes, app load freezes, message freezes are starting to happen again. It has only been 4 days since I did the restore.

I agree with the sentiment here that I expect much better from Apple than this frustrating failure of technology that is wasting my time and destroying my productivity. If I had hacked the phone, I might understand, but I haven't.
