iPhone 6 plus messages app freezing crashing iOS 6.1

Just started having this issue on an iPhone 6 Plus a couple of weeks ago, updated to iOS 8.4 to no avail. Messages just crashes, cannot make calls except through Siri, etc. After a restart it works well for a couple of hours and then back to the same....

I have the same problem with messages app. iOs 8.4 doesn't fix it.

In case of emergency only a restart of device solves immediately the problem. Until it reappears.

Thanks Apple, software and hardware big problems in a 900 € device, please don't fix bugs, the important thing in the system updates is change icons 😠

I have the same issues, and apps freeze on start ups. and bluetooth starts cutting in and out, eventually. I am now restarting 1-3 times a day because it is the only fix. resetting all settings helps for a day or two, but is a horrible pain to do. I suggest that everyone be sure to turn on "automatic send" for diagnostics found in the settings-privacy page so the info is going to Apple. I wish there was a way to also record choice words spoken while waiting for the reboot to occur just to give Apple an idea of the grief they are providing me with. This is exactly the sort of problem I expect to avoid when I DON'T hack my phone. maybe I should hack it to get away from it.

It's been a few months & I was wondering did having the Keyboard Dictionary reset turn out to be a lasting/permanent solution, or did it turn out to be something else which stopped this problem from happening for good?

I've tried everything including deleting my 3rd party keyboards. but resetting the keyboard dictionary sped everything up.

iMessage and Facetime at "settings" stopped hanging .. wow. bug.

I change language to English and region to US. Message app works now, I'll report how long.

I Deleted all third party keyboards after driving myself crazy with this issue. I think it may have worked, will check back soon after testing.

Solution steps to make them stay on my phone.

1. Deleted all 3rd party keyboards (Swiftkey, popkey, swipe)
2. Restarted phone, making sure that the shortcuts appeared.
3. Delete iCloud Drive
4. Restart phone
5. Enable iCloud Drive again (it automatically was enabled after restarting)

Since my last post, this has worked. I hope this helps anyone out there.

Do you guys still have some of these issues on 9.2.1? A few times a day when I click on an individual message thread (which normally opens INSTANTLY), sometimes it hangs for 5-6 seconds before the thread opens and it drives me nuts.

Any other ways to resolve? It has been so long since i remember that my phone message apps opens normalli. Really ****** as tis is suppose to be basic function tat phone suppose to provide. n seeing n replying message takes so long to do. Trash ip6+

I have this same issue on my iPhone 6. My message app freezes up when I try to open it. It freezes to go in to the app, once it finally opens, I try to click a contact and it freezes as well. It seems to happen more when it is imessage as oppose to regular text. Restoring it only fixes it for a day or two, then goes back to freezing. This has been happening since December or so. I also thought it was my old back up so what i ended up doing is factory reset via iTunes, and set up as new phone even though i lost everything. Old texts, etc. This worked for about 3 months, then BACK TO FREEZING again. So i figured it has to be the actual phone, got it swapped out. Worked for about two weeks, then back to the same ol freezing of the message app. I'm beginning to think it is linked to my actual Apple ID. I don't know what else to try. Everything else on my phone works, except my message app. I also even deleted most of my messages thinking it was a storage issue. I have 43.2 GB free on my phone. I'm running the latest version. Oh, and I don't even use any third party keyboards!

Any updates? Fix it?
