This has been happening for a long time, spanning several versions of iTunes, and I've been searching everywhere for the answer. I have spoken to both Apple and Microsoft support on the phone and I've posted error logs and Appcrash events on blogs, forums, and TechNet and have gotten nowhere. I've reset paths, caches, and uninstalled/re-installed (as admin) in a specific sequence (while standing on one leg with one arm behind my back and crossing my fingers), but nothing has helped.

Apple blames Microsoft and Microsoft blames Apple, but NOBODY is doing anything to fix it. I have 5 iPads, 4 iPhones, and several iPods and I'm going to have to re-sync everyone of them because I can no longer run iTunes on this PC.

The problem lies hidden somewhere behind Apple's OBJC.DLL and it is my personal opinion that iTunes is trying to access a file that Microsoft locked down after the Duqu vulnerability. I have no way to trace and prove that though, so if anyone has any ideas or fixes...PLEASE HELP!

Well the bulk of what I know about fixing iTunes is in that user tip and I think I'm nearly out of alternative things to suggest.

I'm sure by now you will also have tried blowing away the following folders:

C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\iTunes

C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes

C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes

Holding Shift+Control when starting iTunes to open in safe mode.

Holding Shift when starting to choose or create a new library.

Interesting that it makes a start on checking the library. I've noticed that a few users seem to have permissions issues with 12 that didn't exist for them previously. Apologies it is yet another dead end, or something that you've already tried, but you could try Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows assuming it can create a new empty library.

I've found that iTunes 12.0.1 simply won't work behind corporate firewalls. At least not my company. When I installed iTunes 12.0.1 it would crash every time I launched it, but here's the catch. It would only crash if I launched it in my office (on my company network). At home it would work fine. It seems that iTunes tries to execute code it downloads from the iTunes servers and if a corporate network messes with the code, iTunes crashes. That in itself is a reason not to use iTunes. Any program that tries to blindly execute downloaded code without checking it should never be run. In my case I reverted back to iTunes 11.4.0.18 which works fine.
