How can I get rid of a Congratulations-you-won.com-yourprize.com pop up window on my iPad? It wants me to answer ok but I'm afraid it is a virus.

Where were checking on Norton, certainly not here because I think if you had you would have received a totally different impression. Personally I would not trust anything from Norton.

I have an iPhone up to date on all updates, clear my browser multiple times a day and have pop ups blocked and I still get this pop up at least one a day. No ***** sites and as far as I can tell there is no specific site that triggers it. Can’t apple include a patch to stop this? I can’t seem to find other software options for iOS to block this.

FYI: This particular “phishing” pop-up/attack is not limited to “pornographic” sites; it can also come through “wiki” sites, IMDb type sites, etc. For example, we were searching for a particular PlayStation Game’s “Walkthrough” sites containing details concerning gameplay, shortcuts or other such facts for gamers. Therefore, for one to assume (or perpetuate) that these particular “pop-ups” or “web pages” that take over the original web page or site being searched attack your phone or other Apple device via pornographic sites would be incorrect. It is a common misconception.

I agree. I get the same problem with wiki websites. It can help sometimes to go into settings Safari preferences and turn off Java. Otherwise I simply immediately hit the icon for a new browser window setting and close that particular browser window. Apple needs a fix for this very annoying behavior on their system which is taking advantage of how their software is configured.

This is a temporary solution only. It may come back as soon as you open safari or it may be a 100 hits from now. As far as I can tell, Apple is content to allow this annoyance to continue as long as it is only an annoyance.

I wish this would not say solved when it’s not.ive done that and more and still get it and so have many others. And I’m only going to top websites. It’s to the point that I’m not using my iPhone/iPad to go on the web. It makes this iPhone/iPad cheap since you can’t use the web.. Apple needs to fix this NOW cause if this continues, I won’t be buying another Apple pro

The only one who is capable of marking this thread as solved it the one who started. Since it is marked as solved then a replay in this thread worked for him.

If it didn't work for you then you have a different problem. You really should start your own thread in that case. Once you do that you will as owner of that thread be able to control when it is marked as solved.

I completely agree with this post. This has gone on for quite some time now and is getting old. The problem with the whole issue is getting these messages over the last 2 years makes me feel like the IOs operating system is not secure. Consequently, I never use my iPhone for any financial transactions with my bank and credit cards and I've stopped using Apple Pay. Please make your IOs system more robust Apple! We are counting on you.

I’m a 74 year old woman who has this same problem and apparently you learned about this problem they personal experience? however I have never in all my use of the internet gone to or even stumbled across a **** site. So your reply is not only offensive but utterly worthless.

This does not work. I’ve done this multiple times and I still get the ad. This ad will literally hijack my browsing session and redirect me to a different phishing site, all in the same tab. It doesn’t open a new tab, it literally hijacks my browsing session and forces a new page to load. Clearing the browsing history/resetting Safari in settings does NOT work. Please, dear god, figure out how to stop this nuisance from reoccurring.

I have never visited a **** site and I get it all the time. I mostly read news, and computer sites. It has attached itself to a lot of websites. I have gotten it on the Facebook app also. Seems like there ought to be some kind of detection for it.

My issue is you can’t get rid of it, unless you completely get out of it, can’t get back to what I am looking at because it keeps popping up. This doesn’t seem right. Are there any browsers that don’t do this?
