will apple replace my slightly bent iphone 6?

I bought my iphone 6 about 1 month ago, and recently i notice it is a little bent.

Its not a big issue and the phone still works it just looks really weird and im worried it might get worse.

I didn't put the phone in my back pocket at all or try to bend it in any way so im pretty sure its not my fault.

If i take this to apple will they replace/fix my phone for free?

ALRIGHT. Let me get the record straight, as in, I'll give my story.

As I was playing with my iPhone 6 i noticed that the touch screen was way off, like, I would be scrolling and the screen would shake upon contact with touching it. So, I took off my Otter case (that I put on as soon as I took my iphone out of the box) and inspected it, low and behold it is bent. right below the sim card in fact. Me knowing that this was a christmas gift, I was really careful with it, also I have never broken an electronic, (glass, frame etc.) So this was a huge surprise to me.

I went to my nearest apple store and brought my broken phone with me. I went to one of the people at the "genius bar" and I asked what my options were. They said that;

1. I could talk to my provider (1000$ for replacement :O)

2. I could just pay 375$ CAD for a new phone

3. Pay for apple care+ and pay 180$ CAD

4. Or just use the phone and do nothing

I just chose the cheapest way out, and the safest, since apple care plus lasts 2 years, so if i make any other mistakes i can just bring my phone to the store.

So the next morning was a Wednesday. I called apple (at work) and waited about 10 minutes after being told for a 5 minute wait (it's alright i dont mind, just warning you guys the robot was lying. But "Don't worry be happy" by Bobby Mcferrin was playing so i didn't mind :3) Upon being greeted by the operator she was very nice in fact. she asked questions about my phone and I advised her that I was at work so I hung up.

Upon arriving home, I called with my home phone, I told them my name and they surprisingly remembered my dilemma. After talking, (no negotiating, i didn't persuade anyone) I found out I was eligible for Apple care plus. As I mentioned earlier It was a christmas gift and the person who gave this phone to me said they purchased it in November 2015, (as of now it is late January 2016) So i was very surprised i was eligible for it.

I will update though for My new phone. So stay tuned, for next week.

It actually doesn't take that much pressure to bend them.

If 90 lbs is not much pressure, okay. You are correct.

Some people say that putting your phone in your pocket and sitting on it is not "normal usage"

It may be “normal usage” for some people to put something into their pocket & sit on it but the iPhone is not designed to be put into a pocket and sat upon.

So, putting an iPhone into your pocket & sitting on it is not "normal usage”.

Why would anyone sit on a $700 device that is not designed for sitting?

Why are you guys so **** negative? It's like you think you know Apples policies because of YOUR experience.

If you are within your warranty or have AppleCare+ and have a defective phone (hardware or software) Apple will replace your iPhone.

You just have to call AppleCare 800-myapple and file a claim.

We DO know Apple's policies and those policies state that the warranty does NOT cover accidental damage.

So it kinda goes like this:

Pretty cut and dry really no room for speculation. They are on case by case basis.

If you have a defective iSight camera and your phone is bent as per apple guidelines you don't get iSight camera replacement.

Apple Care + sure pay your deductible and you get a new phone.

No apple care + no replacement.

(This is just typical overall. I'm sure there are exceptions to the rules this is just from my experience repairing iPhones as a Apple Service Provider)

I Have the same issu, I am curious what happened in your individual case as I just noticed this recently and am about to have my phone looked at. I feel if they don't replace my 600 dollar iPhone I've had less than a year I will never buy Apple products again and them not standing behind their product probably shows why they're crashing in the stock market. I'm actually frustrated because there's no reason my phone should be bending. I'm kinda venting but seriously I'm not made of my money I worked hard for my iPhone

This Bend Gate thing must be true if everyone is posting about it. I am returning mine tomorrow (just bought a 6 plus less than 24 hours ago).

Does that mean alien abductions actually happen because lots of people post on the internet about them?

No, "everyone" is not posting about it. A very small number of people have bent their phones of any kind. The iPhone 6+ is no more likely to bend than other phones of its size.

I wish my experience had been so positive

iPhone 6 bent having been in jeans pocket within the first couple of weeks

problem developed with the antenna after 6 months and a crack appeared on the screen

apple wouldn't fix it under warranty and their position is that pressure must have been applied for this to happen - despite lots of posts to the contrary they don't consider that normal pressure of having the phone in the back pocket would cause this damage - but it sincerely did

faced with a huge Apple cost to replace the screen had it done by a non Apple contractor

antennae problems persisted and Apple now refuse to change the phone within the 1 year warranty

I understand that the warranty covers authorised repairs but it is pretty clear to anyone with even partial vision that the handset is bent so it feels as though Apple are using this as an excuse and are hiding behind this

.....so the message seems to be go spend several hundred pounds on a large thin screen phone but don't expect it to be fit for purpose

anyone else had the same problem?
