message option for customized contacts

When I add a custom label to a mobile phone the option for texting disappears from the contact. I guess what it is doing is changing the phone from a mobile to something else. Is there a way to have a custom label, that will show as a mobile for texting.

The issue is when you are on the txting screen. At the "To", you can begin typing a name in and it will populate. Because it has removed the option in contacts, it does not populate the mobile # - unless you have it labeled "mobile" and not a custom label. The issue with that is, if you have a husband and wife contact, and multiple cells it's difficult tell what mobile belongs to who.

That's not true at all. If I start typing a name in the "To:" field, I will get all options for that name, even if they are not labeled "mobile". If the ones not labeled mobile are ones you haven't used in a while, they may be further down the list. Even home numbers will show up if you start typing the name.

Give the husband and wife each their own contact information and then link them using the Add Related Name field.

Don't know what to tell you. I have a large number of people in my Contacts who have two mobile phones, one for work and one for personal. My custom label for their work mobile phones doesn't include the word "mobile" at all and yet I have no trouble texting them from the To field. I've also seen people accidentally select home phones from that list.

What happens if you type further? As in type the space and start Simms?

I don't use one contact for 2 differnt people.

But I don't have this problem (message bubble not showing up) either.

Are those actual cell phone numbers?

The only time I don't have the message bubble is if it goes to a landline.

FYI: I asked the host to remove the images with names, numbers, addresses.

I honestly can't think of why it's not. Check your region settings and make sure they're correct. Trying toggling Dial Assist (I've got it on). Reset the phone. Force quite messages. Dance in a circle widdershins under the new moon.

My contacts are synced to my Gmail account. I'm running iOS 8.1 but I've always observed this behavior. I have iMessage enabled. I have an unlimited SMS plan with my carrier. My contacts are not organized in groups on my phone. To the best of my knowledge there are no settings that affect this (there are on Android phones).

Sorry, that's all I've got.
