ios crash report due to a third party application

My son was watching something on his iPhone (5c) iOS 7.1.2 and received this message in Safari "http://supportcallnow<dot>com 'warning!! iOS Crash Report' " Due to a third party application in your phone, iOS crashed. Contact Support for an immediate fix - 1800-***-2251.

Fairly sure this is a virus or at least a scam. Have already tried to reset by holding the power and square down until the apple icon appears, but to no avail. I cannot get the message off of the Safari screen .

Help!

I got the same issue too on my IPAD Mini. I was worried and called on the number provided. A lady answered and there was a lot of noise in the background !! Like a fish market. That's what made me think it could be hoax. She demanded 70$ per device associated on each Apple ID!!! Thats when i backed off and googled about the issue.

Switch off your WIFI.

Clear all cookies and History and Data

Close all current applications

Restart your device.

Make sure to reset your Apple ID Password on another device before you do the above.

I am not sure how come APPLE has not acted on this yet.I thought IOS was secure and hence bought 2 IPADS. The number is there. They can call then and file a case of hacking/forgery/anything.

I am glad i did not give my card details. Or else my account might have been wiped out.

I HOPE APPLE TAKES THIS SERIOUSLY. THIS ISSUE CANNOT BE SITTING IN THIS DISCUSSION FORUM FOR MORE THAN A MONTH!!!

PLEASE DO ACT ON IT !!!!!

I was looking into this issue and it appears that there is some code you can use on a website to disable the popup blocker setting. Not entirely sure how/if it works.

Also, does anyone know where the popup message is originating from? The website itself? If so, then the webmasters need to be told that their site has been compromised otherwise people will continue to run into this. I doubt we all visited the same website to get this message.

Ok this just happened to my Mom: Due to a third party application in your phone, iOS crashed. Contact Support for an immediate fix - 1800-523-2251. and I told her that it was a scam but she actually call the number on her screen already and then proceeded to give them her credit card number to be able to fix the problem. I told her to cancel her card immediately ...I am worried for her is there anything I can do?

i had the same issue that safari is crashed and unable to open it. every time i open it ,the popup screen asking me to call 1888-652-4757. i end up calling the number. it was a man who answered after a long wait on the line with a believable recorded message that the call will be monitored for security purpose.he asked for the IMEI number. asked me whether i am calling from same device and i did give the IMEI number and said yes to the device. he checked and said i am using iphone 5 and has to pay $19.99 for the software. my warranty is expired which is only for 90 days and i have to renew right at that time otherwise it will affect other applications too. even if i renew it will last only for 90days or until i have another crash.like others said the background was very noisy and it alerted me that a good company doesn't provide such low quality customers service.i said i will check with my local store and the man said i can call anytime on the same number. i checked online and the airplane mode and deleting history helped me. but my concern is that i gave them the IMEi number and my phone number . can anyone help me with this?
