ios crash report due to a third party application

My son was watching something on his iPhone (5c) iOS 7.1.2 and received this message in Safari "http://supportcallnow<dot>com 'warning!! iOS Crash Report' " Due to a third party application in your phone, iOS crashed. Contact Support for an immediate fix - 1800-***-2251.

Fairly sure this is a virus or at least a scam. Have already tried to reset by holding the power and square down until the apple icon appears, but to no avail. I cannot get the message off of the Safari screen .

Help!

This is a DEFINITE SCAM. I read the feedback on here just to make sure, and the same lady with the asian accent as described picked up the phone and went through the motions. She said I'd have to pay $39.99, and I told her that this sounds suspicious. She turned sarcastic and said "OK ma'am", and said bye and hung up.

After finding the solution, I called again just to let her know that I knew this was a scam, and she hung up on me mid-sentence. DO NOT TRUST. These people are ridiculous!

I just experienced the same problem on my iPhone 5s. My phone is now saying "no service". I called sprint and they are saying that everything appears to be okay with my phone and they aren't seeing what I am seeing. So, I called the 1-800 number and for the "scam" and they tried to con me out of me money. Basically, I have reset my phone, did the airplane mode and cleared the cookies and history, etc. Nothing is working. Has anyone else had the same issue in which nothing is solving the issue?

This just happened to me and my daughter's. Unfortunately I called the number but didn't authorize any payment. Couldn't understand at all what the "chinese accent"guy was saying and I told him I wouldn't pay the 49.99 he was asking for and that I should go to apple store. He said they would charge me 99.99 !!!!! No way, I knew it was a scam. He insisted and couldn't clearly explain me why it was happening.

Thank you all so much for the help!
