Mac mail inline attachments - Yosemite 10.10

Has anyone found a Yosemite work-around yet to send image attachments as file icons that show as icons to Windows users and not images?

Right clicking and "show as icon" works on the Mac but Windows users still get full images in the email body. I send lots of files for my work and this is really really annoying!! Many of my customers are not particularly PC literate and just cannot get the image out of the email.

Have always used Lokiware's Attachment Tamer, but in good old Mac "we don't care what our customers want to do, we will force them to do it our way" fashion, this has been disabled and Lokiware seem to be struggling to come up with an updated version.

Does this annoy anyone else, or is just me?

No I have no idea. It annoys me so much. I'm a mac guy as much as the next guy, but this is a classic example of a "cool" feature messing with productivity. There are countless other examples. I use my mac to work, swiping between Windows 7 on Fusion just so I can use Excel, and my mac for everything else. I'm about to start using Outlook on Windows. Another thing I don't understand is why don't they just port Microsoft Office to Mac, keep it the same? Why does everyone dumb down and color their software for mac users.

Whatever, Apple stop listening a long time ago.

Rui, Just be cautious about upgrading when the next OS X version rolls out. I found myself in a situation with a similar plugin that solved the problem but then when I upgraded to Yosemite the plugin was not compatible.

Before Yosemite I was using Attachment Tamer that doesn't work with Yosemite nor with El Capitan. That's why I moved on to Anti Inline.

Hopefully, in the future, if this plugin stops to be supported for future OS X versions, maybe someone else make another working plugin, to solve the problems that Apple should solve in the first place... Unfortunately, not all the world use Mac or Mail, so the Mac users must be able to continue to communicate with other operating systems.

Could you instruct me on the correct Terminal line to turn this facility off ?

I now need to imbed Word.doc files within a Mail message. I tried the obvious:

defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool NO

defaults write com.apple.mail EnableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool YES

But neither worked.

I’m running Mail 9.3 on 10.11.5

A few days ago I finally tried Clive Galini's OS X Mail Anti Inline Plugin and within an hour went back and purchased it. Best $15 I've ever spent on an app and it does everything advertised, fixing all the problems or issues in this thread. http://clivegaleni.com/os-x-mail-anti-inline-plugin/

Thanks for this I'm trialling it now.

Only problem I have is the logo part of my signature,

the ONE thing I want to remain inline, now gets separated

and attached at end of message along with the other attachments.

This, despite me making what I think are the appropriate

selections in the preferences pane.

Do you have same problem, if so your solution?

Why does Apple Mail continue to be unusable and not allow easy sending of attachments, without having to do all the "silly" terminal work-a-rounds.

This is 2016, not 1984

I had to go back to Outlook, due to Apple Mail being so bad.

When is Apple going to make email software that is usable

I don't use a signature with an image, so I'm no help there. I do see that it's supposed to take care of this.

I think I'm fretting over naught.

Sending an email to myself from one email account to another

and viewing on same computer.

I need to send to a recipient with Windows.

Overall though, the default show as Icon on sent and received messages

is worth the price

isn't this due to how the messages was formatted Rich Text (HTML) or Plain Text ? I remember seeing something relating to attachments, but viewing it in one way or another depends on weather the it was sent as Rich Text or Plain.

Maybe it also apples to this too ? *shrugs*

This does nothing! It only changes the way YOU see it on YOUR computer. The recipient still sees images inline.

Only way to stop pdf’s reverting and arriving as ‘view in message’ at receiving end is to add empty lines to a file before it is converted to pdf. Then it is recorded as more than a single page pdf and will only display at composing and receiving ends as an icon

I've found the only solution for me is to compress (zip) the files. That seems to work
