I keep getting this message.To view this web content, you need to install the Java Runtime Environment.

Using the link below, downloaded, installed, and received the message indicating successful installation; yet, the problem still persists even after reboot/restart. While nice to know there is a "work-around", JAVA Development Kit (JDK), it is shameful that Apple & Oracle can't put their collective heads together to resolve this issue., especially for a version specifically for Max OS X. Suspect it's more business politics than technical... Please do the right thing and fix this. Apple, please provide guidance even if it doesn't involve Oracle.

I'm not understanding Apple's non-response either, or Oracle's, but I'm also not getting why you don't just install JDK.

Regretfully, I probably will sometime in the future. I have not because I just recently stumbled on to the JDK fix. When it aggravates me enough I will probably take the time to install it - unfortunately. I'm resisting because in believe in doing the job right the first time and in some futile way am trying to hold Apple/Oracle's feet to the fire. Hopefully they will do the right thing and correct their error(s), or at least address the issue. It hacks me off when things are done poorly.

Well, that I can understand, Cecil. I also look forward to an answer from Apple-Oracle.

I've just defused this popup which happened every time my wife logged on to our iMac with her account - but not when I did with mine.

I logged with my wife's credentials and examined her login items (System Preferences/Users & Groups/Login Items) - but there was nothing suspicious there. Just the regular 'iTunes Helper' thing.

Next I examined her Launch Agents (From the finder menu select Go, hold down the Alt key until the Library option appears, select library, Launch Agents)

I examined each non-apple plist file there with TextEdit (there were only a couple). The offending item was the Facebook Video Chat demon - with various references to Java in the PList. She doesn't use Facebook video chat - so I simply deleted the plist file.

Voila - no more popups when she logs in.

Other places to check are /Library/LaunchAgents, /Library/LaunchDemons, /System/Library/LaunchAgents & /System/Library/LaunchDemons - but be really careful before deleting anything there. Examine the Plist & make sure you understand what it's launching. And in particular don't delete anything beginning with 'com.apple', or 'org.'

Just go to Library (my folder is enabled all the time), Launch agents, and delete that stupid Facebook video chat thing!

I keep getting this too. I run the latest version of code OS X and I use firefox and sometimes Safari

I've also removed the facebook plist and haven't had the pop up since - will monitor and see what happens
