Safari on Macbook keeps loading mobile version of websites

Whenever I try to go to chase.com on my macbook in safari it loads the mobile version. If I clear all my history, cache, etc and try again it will load the desktop version. However, its only for that first time. If I go back to the website later it loads the mobile version again 😟 Super annoying. Anyone know how I can prevent this?

I'm running Yosemite on my 2013 Macbook Air, I also do have everything syncing through iCloud and also using a iPhone 6 plus with 8.1 but I never go chase.com through safari on the phone I just use the app.

Thanks,

Jon

Try resetting the zoom level back to actual size.

View > Actual Size, or Command 0

I must've had safari in focus when using a design app and zoomed so far that the site's responsive design switched to mobile view.

I am having this problem as well. It happens with news sites and other sites. I change my book marks and I can force it to go to the regular internet site but then the next time it goes right back to the mobile site. I'm wondering if it is confusing my iPad with my iMac. I know my Notes on my iMac go to my iPad notes every time I save a note it shows up there as well.

This one worked for me...at least so far. Tried talking to Chase this a.m., and Eileen kept telling me I needed to uninstall and reinstall Safari...I told her I was sure this was not necessary and could she please let me speak with someone with more technical information. She said it is a mac issue and I needed to contact Apple. I think this must have occurred because I accessed the site from my iPad one night - could have floated around in the cloud until it landed on my desktop, too. Unbelievable, though, that Chase didn't know what was going on...wonder if they don't have access to Google 🙂

Same problem here, but on twitter.com.

After clearing history and cookies, I had to log back in to twitter, but the login fields had a notice above them that read "You are on Twitter Mobile because you are using an old version of Safari." And that linked me to a support page with the following info:

Using twitter.com on Internet Explorer or Safari

If you log in to twitter.com on the following browsers, you will be directed to see mobile.twitter.com.

  • Internet Explorer, version 9 or earlier
  • Safari, version 6 or earlier

Not all twitter.com features are compatible with older versions of Internet Explorer or Safari. In order to provide the most stable experience within the browser, we redirect users to mobile.twitter.com.

If you would like to use the standard version of Twitter from your browser, we recommend upgrading your browser to a more recent version.

Note: If you are using Internet Explorer 10 and are being redirected to mobile.twitter.com, please try disabling Compatibility View in your browser settings.
