I can't send voice memos?

Keep getting the message when trying to share a voice memo: Preparing Failed. 'Name' is being optimized for sharing at this time.

I can listen to it myself when I press the play button, but I am trying to send me singing to someone and that's the message that I am getting. It's really important for this person to get it.

Could someone please help me out here?

Oh now I can send it, via text message like I used to with my iphone 4s (I'm using an iphone 5s now) but when it goes to the messages screen, I type in the name of the person, and select them, but there is nothing in the actual text message box where the text would go. No attachment to it. Nothing. Argh! This is so frustrating.

Thanks! I had a couple of recordings made at a show (interviews with exhibitors) that I needed to get off my iPhone 5 - most of them I could get easily, but two had the error in the OP. Thanks to ChuckFailure's post, I was able to retrieve both - the tip here is to scroll to the end of the recording you want to save, THEN hit the red button to record something; this should keep the original recording intact and the addition can be edited out later!

Just watch out that when you 'edit' you don't record over your important message like I did. If you hit the red button on an existing message it may start recording over at the start, rather than the end. I believe you have to scroll to the end to add additional sound. I lost a few seconds of my recording (the important part) although this fix did work. Thanks!

I've had the same problem - I went to record a couple of extra seconds to the voice memo. I don't know if I didn't click 'edit' first but when I hit the circular, red record button it overwrote my voice memo.

If anyone knows how to recover the original voice memo please let me know.
