I can't seem to find a place to uncheck Mail within the calendar. Can you please give specific instructions? This is driving me nuts! Thanks!

I found this online and may be helpful:
Delete an Email Address from Auto-Complete in Mac OS X Mail
To remove an email address from the auto-complete list in Mac OS X Mail:
If you do not see Remove from Previous Recipients List:
Delete an Email Address from Auto-Complete in OS X Mail using the Previous Recipients List
You can also search for the unwanted address directly in the previous recipients list:
Select Window | Previous Recipients from the menu in Mac OS X Mail.
You can highlight multiple addresses by holding down the Commandkey.
I have actually and it was still listed as my name so changing it didn't make a difference.
I fixed it by going into "Calendar" and unchecking Mail. That was the only thing I found to get rid of it. Thanks though!
Hi All
If you right click on the email address after type it in and press Enter. It will give you options, if you edit the contact you can change it there.
Alternatively you can add it to your contacts
I did that and now it's fine
But I can't answer WHY it did that.....
this is weird. The same thing has happened to me.
Have you looked at your mail preferences to see if there is an account with that name?
Thanks, that worked!
Why the HECK does Apple let this happen to so many email addresses is beyond reason. Holidays in the United States? What kind of a goofy name is THAT to assign as a default?
Apple ain't what it used to be...
I've been having this issue too. I had a chat with Apple last night about it and we discovered that it is actually a Google problem, that is occurring not just in OS X but in Windows and Linux too.
Here is a post on the Google forums:
Thank you thank you! I thought I was going insane! Google needs to get it together or I am closing my account!
Since we are on this subject, has anyone noticed that your calendar changed its time zone? All of my appointments are now at night. I haven't traveled over the holidays....this is a GMAIL calendar.
I was looking at the Calendar on my iPad and saw "Holidays in the United States." This selection slows respective holidays during the year. Perhaps if you uncheck this your problem will go away.
You can Possibly fix this by clicking on the arrow that points down on the right hand side of the name when it appears after adding it and clicking "remove from previous recipient list" and customize it by adding the email to your contact application on your computer
If you look at your iCalendar and Google list of calendars, you'll see that you have a calendar titled "Holidays in the United States." Turn it off and unsubscribe in both programs. Another one of those "smart phone" cross-over, auto-subscribe things that are both bothersome and not so smart.
Hopefully, this will resolve the issue.
I fixed mine with a Combo Process of those above:
1. Go to Safari, Open your Google Account
2. Go to Google Calendar and Deselect (unsubscribe) the "Holidays in the United States" Event (Left Side)
3. Go to Mail (on Mac), Create a new Email
4. Type in the gmail address that was causing the issue, let it auto input, then Select the whole address
5. Right Click, From the options Select "Remove from Previous Recipients"
6. Type your new "Preferred" Pen Name, and it should become the new auto-input, you can add to your Mac Contacts to assure this.
*7. Make sure you do this for All your Gmail account if yo have multiple accounts
*8. You may have to restart your computer to make it preeminent
Good stuff...thanks
