Yosemite 10.10.1 update did not fix my wifi issue, did it fix yours??

The discussion about wifi issues is nothing new since Yosemite came out. Today I installed the latest update (10.10.1) which was to help with wifi issues such as your wifi dropping. I have tried every remedy that has been posted and nothing has worked. I constantly have to re-connect to my wifi network while on my computer. I guess I will sit patiently until this is resolved. I was excited to see the new update but after downloading and installing it, I see that nothing has changed. I have an iMac (2013) and have never had internet issues until I installed Yosemite. I hope the update helps you but it didn't help me.

Instead of sitting and doing nothing you need to start looking elsewhere for your issue. WiFi is an extremely complicated technology. Interference can come from numerous sources, especially if you are in an urban area with lots of WiFi networks nearby. Just because your Mac is near your router doesn’t mean you won’t have issues. Channels use, 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz nabdwidths, electrical noise, physical impairments (like metal doors, cabinets, walls, etc) can all be the issue, not necessarily Apple’s software.

For the record, I am running Yosemite 10.10.1 with an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station with absolutely no issues. I have 9 wireless clients using the network, including two iPhone 6s, an AppleTV, an iPad 2, A Samsung HDTV, A Samsung Blu-ray player, and a hardwired Yamaha AVR. Rock solid. Everything just works.

I had no issue before upgrading to 10.10.1. NOW I DO!!! 10.10.1 has completely destroyed my internet connectivity -- no Ethernet, no Wi-Fi, no nothin'. Everything worked great on my iMac (2014 Retina) until this upgrade. I can boot the machine but can't do much with it any longer. The diagnostics suggested restarting my internet gateway and the switches. I knew they weren't the trouble because every other device on the home LAN works perfectly, but I did it anyway and rebooted the Mac twice but all this machine can do now is get an Ethernet IP. It cannot connect, and with Wi-Fi, it cannot even get an IP. To repeat: every other device on my home LAN works; it's clearly the 10.10.1 "upgrade" that ruined my iMac.

I have had all the wifi dropping issues since installing Yosemite. I installed the November 17th 10.10.1 update that was supposed to fix the problem, and I swear, it is WORSE now. Other devices in my household work fine (iphone, ipad, 2 PCs). But my expensive MacBook pro? Nuhuh. So I'll add my voice to the multitudes': please fix this Apple! Patch your patch! We pay a premium for your products so we don't have to deal with stuff like this!

I don't understand why you felt compelled to come in here and speak so righteously, it isn't helpful at all. It's distracting. Glad that YOUR wifi is working, but mine, like thousands of others, is not. If you don't have anything positive to contribute then why speak?

We have a 2013 imac and a mid 2012 MBP -- the latest update did not resolve the wifi issues for either of these 2 machines. The router is an ASUS RT-AC87R which works flawlessly to deliver network and WAN connectivity to a Windows 2012 Server and an ubuntu desktop.

Hi everyone,

I am trying to create a secure network on my MB air with OS X Yosemite?

Any ideas?

In the pervious OS version when you create a network on from the WIFI icon on the top of the desktop, there are

1) network name

2) channel

3) type of password

4) key in password.

Now with OS X yosemite, there is only

1) network name

2) channel

When the network is created there is not IP.

I am trying to use "airserver" a third party app to help project my iPad air to my MB air.

I am trying to do this when I am conducting the class and I would like to record my lesson.

Please advise.

My way of getting around this is to use Airport Express and create my own network that link MB air and iPad air.

But i do not want to look like a gadget guys and bring so many hardware to class... haha...

Hope someone have an alternative.

Cheers,

Andy

I am having the same issue as far as WiFi dropping off. I upgraded to OS X 10.10.1 and still same problem so I then downgraded to Maverick and have no problems. I have called Apple about this problem and there are trying to tell me that it is my wireless airport card in my MacBook Pro that is bad. I can not see that if it works fine before and when I downgraded to Maverick.
