Yosemite 10.10.1 update did not fix my wifi issue, did it fix yours??

The discussion about wifi issues is nothing new since Yosemite came out. Today I installed the latest update (10.10.1) which was to help with wifi issues such as your wifi dropping. I have tried every remedy that has been posted and nothing has worked. I constantly have to re-connect to my wifi network while on my computer. I guess I will sit patiently until this is resolved. I was excited to see the new update but after downloading and installing it, I see that nothing has changed. I have an iMac (2013) and have never had internet issues until I installed Yosemite. I hope the update helps you but it didn't help me.

This is not a very helpful response. Most of the people who post regarding this issue, did not have an issue with any of their WiFi connections prior to upgrading to Yosemite. For me the issue is linked to WPA2 Enterprise connections, all other WiFi connections are working fine regardless of the physical configuration, the channel, or the bandwidth. There seem to be a problem with some of the protocols used. It is a software issue.

Apple is becoming a BIG JOKE! My wifi is terrible after Yosemite update and 10.10.1 did NOTHING!!!!

This affects my Clear modem connection mostly... it will not stay connected. Clicking on a link in the browser seems to kick it off. It drops the connection and reconnects constantly. Other wifi networks stay connected. But they are much slower on my MBA 2013 compared to my iPhone and iPad.

WHAT IS THE DEAL APPLE... You guys need to fix this ASAP!!!!! I've never seen such a wide spread issues go ignored by Apple for so long.

YES... I've tried all the crazy supposed fixes on the apple forum and many others!

You raise an excellent point regarding the number of factors that come to play in setting up a single Wifi connection.

I have had occasional issues - but upon investigation the fault has rested with the provider the majority of the time.

I've had an issue with this quite severely, losing connection to 2.4GHz and 5GHz, so I had nothing to lose and tried a couple of tests on my MacBook Pro Late 2013.. Backed up to Time Machine and it seemed when you completely flash the system with a fresh new install, the Wi-Fi seems to work very well, but if you simply update from Mavericks or from 10.10 to 10.10.1 , it has an issue, I don't really understand this.. But its good information.

Personally, I'd recommend anyone who's having issues to create a fresh install and then download apps and data again - But only if it's easy enough to get your work back on there, if you depend on data saving to a Time Machine Back up then I'd not recommend it.

I'm quite happy to stay on this fresh install and put my apps back on.. but not everyone's like me. It's also worth tying anything like CCleaner just to remove any files that are unecesary, but be warned anything in downloads folder will also get delete so save it somewhere else. Hope this gave anyone a solution but this stuff did help me and I've got a healthier MacBook now.

I really wish apple would implement a Reset All Settings option on OS X, like they do on iOS. It would be cool as whenever I update my IPhone and IPad etc., I usually Reset the settings because it somehow sorts it out the lag and sluggishness, it means I'll have to reset iMessage and FaceTime and a couple more settings but its worth it in the long term.. Speed is always good and I wish Mac did that, or maybe there is a way but I can't find out.

Obviously I'm talking in general user terms, developers and others can do whatever they like LOL. I'm just here to give a bit of advice.

I have a 2 new iMac 5Ks and they would drop the wifi connection after about 10-20 mins waking from sleep. Reconnect was very quick and would remain good for the duration.

I have upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.1 and so far after 4 hours of fairly steady use it has been perfect. only time will tell, but so far so good.

Have had similar issue (no wifi internet). iMac, MBA & mac mini all lost wifi. All three systems can see SSIDs, pick one: however, won't connect.

As with others, iphones/ipads work fine.

I pulled power from my router (Apple), waited 30 sec., and plugged back in. All three macs are working fine, for 2 days, no drops or slow downs.

Doesn't say there aren't issues with 10.10 & 10.10.1; however, mine are working fine at the moment.

When I first installed OS10.10 on my macbook air, I noticed that my wifi would be sluggish at times, but I wasn't having the major problems that some people were - until I turned on iMessage. I turned iMessage off, but there was no improvement.

Luckily, I have a macbook pro that still has Mavericks, so just used this instead, while waiting for 10.10.1 to be released. Unfortunately, there was no improvement after installing the update earlier this evening.

However, for quite a while, I've suspected that there is something really wrong with the way that iCloud operates (when iTunes match is updating, or an iOS device is backing up, I cannot use wifi on any other device). With this in mind, I disabled icloud drive (making sure to make a copy of everything before doing so). I no longer have any problems.

I was going to pay for extra iCloud storage, but I think I'll forget that, and stick with Box. Apple really need to sort this out.

I'm still having the same problem as before. My Mac Mini loses sight of the wireless router after waking from sleep. It can see four hotspots in the neighbourhood but not mine. I have to try every random trick to get it to see my router. When it can see my router, it connects instantly and stays connected until it goes back into sleep. But, speed is from moderate to very slow. It usually runs at about 25% of normal speed (before Yosemite). I should mention that I usually turn the router off overnight while the Mini goes into sleep. I turn the router on in the morning then, wake the Mini. There could be something in this but it doesn't explain why the Mac Mini can see all my neighbourhood networks but not my own.

However, there's still a connection to bluetooth in all this. For the period it can't see my router, the Mini loses all bluetooth if I move the mouse over the wifi menu or within certain areas of the wifi system preferences pane. I then have to power off and on the bluetooth keyboard (with integrated trackpad).

These were my problems before 10.10.1 and still are.

Fixes I've tried include rebooting, logging off/on, renewing DHCP lease, changing order of preferred networks, changing wifi channels. Each of these has worked at least once but, I can never tell which will work next time. My wifi is on 5Ghz so, it should not be interfering with the bluetooth.

It really is about time Apple released detail on what its updates fix. They should be honest and decent in communicating to customers when there is clearly a problem in their software. Being the biggest in the market doesn't mean they can treat people badly and get away with it. We can still vote with our wallets and buy from someone else. I feel strongly this is becoming a major PR problem which Apple staff need to understand.

No change here with the 10.10.1 update, and it's hard to get a handle on things, too: WiFi drops are infrequent, but evident. Sometimes my mid-2010 15" MacBook Pro just drops the network entirely after a period of inactivity and then needs to be reconnected, and at other times it drops the connection for no discernible reason (like, say, watching an hour-long YouTube video).

Definitely a software issue somewhere; didn't happen with Mavericks, though, in the beginning, Mavericks had its own issues after waking from sleep (which Apple fixed with an update at some point). No, this is as if Yosemite occasionally just "forgets" it's connected to a network and needs to be "reminded." It's almost as if there's an overly aggressive power-saving "feature" in the OS that turns off the wireless card or something (oddly, even when it's plugged in).

Since I like Yosemite overall, it's not a show-stopper for me, but it'd be nice to have it fixed. I've updated two out of three machines (using a clean install on one and an update-in-place on the other), but will probably wait to update the third until this gets sorted out. Sigh.
