Yosemite 10.10.1 update did not fix my wifi issue, did it fix yours??

The discussion about wifi issues is nothing new since Yosemite came out. Today I installed the latest update (10.10.1) which was to help with wifi issues such as your wifi dropping. I have tried every remedy that has been posted and nothing has worked. I constantly have to re-connect to my wifi network while on my computer. I guess I will sit patiently until this is resolved. I was excited to see the new update but after downloading and installing it, I see that nothing has changed. I have an iMac (2013) and have never had internet issues until I installed Yosemite. I hope the update helps you but it didn't help me.

There’s an excellent app available in the Mac app store. It’s called WiFi Explorer ($3.99.) When you launch it brings up every WiFi signal your Mac can detect, along with signal strength, channels used, and statistics regarding connectivity. If you live in a concentrated urban area there may be dozens of WiFi networks in use. With WiFi explorer you can troubleshoot by changing channels, moving stuff around (like your SSD) to see what happens to signal strength. It will also tell you what 2.4GHz and 5.0 GHz networks a/b/g/n/ac signals are reaching your Mac’s WiFi antenna. Always remember that WiFi is a radio signal at its core and radio signals can be tricky and hard to troubleshoot.

I think you're right about the interference issue, only when setting the airport channel, (through the terminal for example), the setting is ignored. Also when you have multiple routers with the same network name, you cannot select a specific BSSID. Is this something that Wifi Explorer allows you to do?

The issue is not with signal strength. The issue is with the OS somehow causing continual dropouts, restarts, and extremely slow speeds on the network, even when the tested BPS speed is high and even when the connection is excellent.

Whatever you say. Good luck.

You can be dismissive about this, but I have experienced the same problem, excellent signal strength, but still extremely low band speed. Also there is a good video (http://youtu.be/b48jyGwjaoY) demonstration that shows how difficult it is to pin this problem down to just signal strength.

I have the same problem with wifi disconnecting but it is only happening with my 2011 MacBookPro. This is running 10.10.1 as is my iMac , which does not experience the problem. I have tried to run AHT on my MacBookPro but I cannot get it to fire up however long I stay with the D key pressed.

I understood the wifi disconnect was a known problem which 10.10.1 was supposed to fix.

"Exactly the same problem here. Wifi was working perfectly but update 10.10.1 has just killed my connectivity (Hate myself for updating and trusting in advance!!!) Obviously I won't be able to print until Apple or somebody comes to the solution for this problem. This is creating lots of problems for my work. Any help will be greatly appreciated."
