Yosemite 10.10.1 update did not fix my wifi issue, did it fix yours??

The discussion about wifi issues is nothing new since Yosemite came out. Today I installed the latest update (10.10.1) which was to help with wifi issues such as your wifi dropping. I have tried every remedy that has been posted and nothing has worked. I constantly have to re-connect to my wifi network while on my computer. I guess I will sit patiently until this is resolved. I was excited to see the new update but after downloading and installing it, I see that nothing has changed. I have an iMac (2013) and have never had internet issues until I installed Yosemite. I hope the update helps you but it didn't help me.

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

I've noticed this has happened more to me personally since the 10.10.1 upgrade, but now I'm wondering if it was like this before.

Only my 15" Macbook pro Retina which is currently affected in the household. I have a wider 2009 iMac and my wife's 13" MBP both running fine. We are with Virgin Media in the UK and regularly get +150Mbps download speeds and my MBP is hoping between 1-3Mbps. Very frustrating, especially considering I've only got WiFi to play with on the Retina model.

I find that rebooting the OS helps, but only for 10-20mins then it fails again. tried deleting plist files and assigning another network name but with no joy. Going through the various forums and trying other fixes too but no joy.

I was on the Yosemite beta programme and all seemed fine until the 10.10.1 update (in my case anyway).

It's amazing just how debilitating not having internet connectivity has become in the 21st century. Work comes crashing to a halt and there is very little you can do.

Please find a fix for this soon Apple!

Overnight Edit,

After typing my previous post, I have changed the network name as suggested in the below guide and it seems to have worked so far:

http://osxdaily.com/2014/11/19/os-x-10-10-1-wi-fi-connection-issue-troubleshooti ng/

I had an alternative network name prior to my update and deleted it after being prompted by guides and the network diagnostic assistant. Creating a new network name after the 10.10.1 is the contributing factor in my case. I will let you know if the problem remains resolved long term, although I am not holding my breath.

After updated my macbookpro late 2013, my wireless home connection also dropped repeatedly. Also the latests 10.10.1 didn't solved the problem. Did al the suggested tips discussed in http://osxdaily.com/2014/10/25/fix-wi-fi-problems-os-x-yosemite/ without any succes. Only trick that did help was to open a terminal and run a constantly ping against my gateway. (can be any device or address which answer your ping)

Brought my MB with me to work (first time) and connected without problems and stayed connected whole day......... Plenty of people got rit of the problem when did a clean install, seems that i run into problems with a connection already known by the system after the upgrade.

I read in this discussion that some people solved the problem by changing their wireless settings in their routers. So I also changed my security settings from WPA/WPA2 to no security at all, Rebooted the router, rebooted MB and connected successfully, without security to my home network. Then reset the security settings back to WPA/WPA2, rebooted both devices and connected again. Normally within a few minutes my connection dropped. Now i have already a steady connection for a few hours........ 🙂

had no issues it was Yosemite that caused mine losing contact with router some days no trouble others several times I must have had 20 hours of contact with Apple support (less than 3 months old) on the phone they collected it yesterday to take it in FINGERS CROSSED or i'll be looking for PC windows although i do not like the newest version am writing this on an old toshiba before Yosemite the mac ran rings around this one but the way i got to feel was use the black bin outside

Then i would be done for electrical item in the bin

I applied the 10.10.1 update to my MacBook Pro Retina (Mid 2012) and my issues remain. The only thing that is new or slightly improved is sometimes it will reconnect to the 2.4 GHz network automatically but this is rare. The 5GHz connection is about the same as before or worse.

My tests consist of pinging my default gateway and with the 2.4 GHz network I'm achieving 3.3 ms up to 6.4 ms on average.

When I switch to 5 GHz my ping times go from 100 ms up to 500 ms and even some complete packet loss. Forget about browsing with 5 GHz - it is unusable.

The 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz both use WPA2 Personal.

I'm hoping Apple takes this feedback from all of us and continues to work on this issue. I find it extremely unusual that this has gone on for so long when I've never experienced this with any other upgrade.

On nearly every thread in the support communities, no matter how many people are having exactly the same problem, and no matter how many people detail the steps they took to deal with it, there is always one smug person who isn't having the problem, who feels compelled to add a comment telling people it's really their fault for not understanding the "complicated technology" and trying to solve it. Because since Guy 1 isn't experiencing it, everyone who is must either be doing something wrong or be too dumb/ignorant to know how to try and solve it. I've never understood this kind of unhelpful trolling. if you have a solution, with steps outlined, provide them. If you have some knowledge about the issue that others don't, please provide or link to it. Otherwise, if you are not having a problem and you see a support thread that asks, "Did this fix your problem," maybe the most helpful thing would be not to post anything in it.

I don't think this problem is just happening on the mac mini ,I think it seems to be a problem with the software from apple .

my MacBook Pro gets wifi for a few hours ,then drops out, wants the home wifi password then says the password doesn't exist, loses connection for hours then reconnects all by itself again.I have tried everything I can think of including clean install makes no difference.

Yosemite 10.10.1 update did not fix my wifi issue, did it fix yours??
