Yosemite 10.10.1 update did not fix my wifi issue, did it fix yours??

The discussion about wifi issues is nothing new since Yosemite came out. Today I installed the latest update (10.10.1) which was to help with wifi issues such as your wifi dropping. I have tried every remedy that has been posted and nothing has worked. I constantly have to re-connect to my wifi network while on my computer. I guess I will sit patiently until this is resolved. I was excited to see the new update but after downloading and installing it, I see that nothing has changed. I have an iMac (2013) and have never had internet issues until I installed Yosemite. I hope the update helps you but it didn't help me.

This should win a price for the most useless post ever...

So you are just going to sit there, doing nothing, ranting away, waiting for Apple to do something about an issue they say they have dealt with? So how long are you willing to wait? Forever? What are you doing in the meantime? Sitting there with no WiFi connection, fuming away?

What do you expect people to do? If others' situation is similar to mine then the situation is this:

- The setup worked perfectly with Mavericks

- After the upgrade to Yosemite Wifi drops every 5 minutes

- All other devices (Windows PCs, Android tablets) still work without issues

What is one supposed to do? Wrap everything in aluminum foil to build a Faraday cage, buy a new router, remodel the house, install Windows, sell the Macbook?

It's up to Apple to fix this quickly.

Instead of sitting and doing nothing you need to start looking elsewhere for your issue. WiFi is an extremely complicated technology. Interference can come from numerous sources, especially if you are in an urban area with lots of WiFi networks nearby. Just because your Mac is near your router doesn’t mean you won’t have issues. Channels use, 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz nabdwidths, electrical noise, physical impairments (like metal doors, cabinets, walls, etc) can all be the issue, not necessarily Apple’s software.

How many of those replies are from the same person, or from someone who doesn't agree with the premise. How many are actually unique people with the same problem?

Want to hazard a guess?

Please post relevant figures, not random ones.

And why would this help? Seems like shooting a the dark to me. Especially as this is tried by a lot of users, sometimes it seemed to work sometimes it did not. In my case it didn't help. So, how can this be a solution? This is a software bug, the only way to remedy a software bug is to apply a patch, not randomly deleting config files, creating new network locations or even perform a complete clean install.

If you don't want to try to fix it then leave it as it is and hope that it will fix itself.

I didn't want to sound rude. I am assuming you are trying to help but your suggestions are just random experiments which a lot of the people who are complaining here have already tried. I certainly have tried a lot of things myself and during an Apple support call. In addition, I bought a Mac because I want things to work. If I want to spend hours trying things I might as well go back to Windows or Linux and save some money.

There is a real problem here which the user can't fix by himself. Apple has to fix this.

Same problems with my brand new Mac mini (2014), which came pre-installed with OS X Yosemite. I can't connect to my wifi network. The Mac mini doesn't find my network... My old Mac mini (2012; OS X 10.9.5) and my MacBook Pro (2010; OS X 10.10.1) are connecting to my wifi network without any problems. I've opened a thread in the Mac mini forum:

Mac mini (2014) WiFi Connection Problems

I'm seeking for help.

I'm very disappointed. One of the most important features of a brand new computer isn't working. 😟 😟
