Yosemite 10.10.1 update did not fix my wifi issue, did it fix yours??

The discussion about wifi issues is nothing new since Yosemite came out. Today I installed the latest update (10.10.1) which was to help with wifi issues such as your wifi dropping. I have tried every remedy that has been posted and nothing has worked. I constantly have to re-connect to my wifi network while on my computer. I guess I will sit patiently until this is resolved. I was excited to see the new update but after downloading and installing it, I see that nothing has changed. I have an iMac (2013) and have never had internet issues until I installed Yosemite. I hope the update helps you but it didn't help me.

So, would it be MADNESS to downgrade to Mavericks? I really wouldn’t consider it, but I am so hacked off not being able to rely on my WiFi connection any more.

Btw - I can connect to my Personal Hotspot on my iPhone… what does that all mean? (And no, I already spent 2 weeks thinking it must be my router, but this applies in other locations also.)

As Funny Lynn said Bully for you. Until I downloaded 10.10.1 I was fine on Yosemite too. My iPads and iPhones are still fine. But each day and each attempted fix for the MBP just works temporarily then doesn't. My study hasn't suddenly sprouted filing cabinets or changed the environment in which my router is working. Just count your blessings yours is still working - there's still tomorrow to survive.

Careful Lilly- tethering through your iPhone could mean big bill from your mobile provider; and downgrading to Mavericks is difficult at best of times - clone disks and all - see the BIG thread elsewhere bout Yosemite - and impossible if you didn't buy mavericks with your machine in the first place i.e. if you upgraded to Mavericks theres now no going back..:(

I do understand both your positions: I am sure you realise just how frustrating it all is. It takes too long/ hard on the memory to say in every message And i have sent feedback to Apple too but I realise that would help

I do appreciate why the big points users are keeping their heads down when there is so much variability about, so thanks for raising yours even if it gets shot at

We do still love you but you're getting the brunt of us all falling out of love with A

I have had occasional issues - but upon investigation the fault has rested with the provider the majority of the time.

Renewing the DCHP lease on the device (iPad, MBP, etc) has helped when the ISP fizzled:

Also, an Apple script to keep my VPN alive has been helpful

Applescript to Automatically Connect VPN

this is my script

on idle

tell application "System Events"

tell current location of network preferences

set myConnection to the service "Enter your VPN SERVICE Name Here"

if myConnection is not null then

if current configuration of myConnection is not connected then

connect myConnection

end if

end if

end tell

return 120

end tell

end idle

Instead of sitting and doing nothing you need to start looking elsewhere for your issue. WiFi is an extremely complicated technology. Interference can come from numerous sources, especially if you are in an urban area with lots of WiFi networks nearby. Just because your Mac is near your router doesn’t mean you won’t have issues. Channels use, 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz nabdwidths, electrical noise, physical impairments (like metal doors, cabinets, walls, etc) can all be the issue, not necessarily Apple’s software.

Well, then one should have identical interference with Mavericks. One does NOT...

This is a 10.10 problem.

No worse but there again no better

No - 10.10.01 does not fix the issue at all !

This here, however does - at least it is a fix which have been working for many, including me the past 48 hours.

It remains to be seen whether this is a real fix (With Caveats as in turning off Airplay) or a temporary one. Time will tell...
