Yosemite 10.10.1 update did not fix my wifi issue, did it fix yours??

The discussion about wifi issues is nothing new since Yosemite came out. Today I installed the latest update (10.10.1) which was to help with wifi issues such as your wifi dropping. I have tried every remedy that has been posted and nothing has worked. I constantly have to re-connect to my wifi network while on my computer. I guess I will sit patiently until this is resolved. I was excited to see the new update but after downloading and installing it, I see that nothing has changed. I have an iMac (2013) and have never had internet issues until I installed Yosemite. I hope the update helps you but it didn't help me.

Ah - thanks for that. No downgrading for me then. And, yes, I've stopped tethering. I was getting carried away.

Now - breaking news (or not, for you techie guys) I have received an email from Apple - inviting me to test a pre-release update to OS X Yosemite 'testing Wi-Fi changes and trouble-shooting remaining issues.' SO - it looks as if they are going to do something about it.

Unfortunately, after the first euphoric moment of feeling I was CHOSEN by APPLE, I realised that this must be the computer equivalent of a drugs trial. I do want to be a 'seed volunteer' (hmmm) but unfortunately feel I must decline. I can't run the risk of my Wi Fi getting even s-l-o-w-e-r. So good luck all you guys who do accept. I know you have to sign the Official Secrets Act or some such - so we will never know you are out there. Except you'll all go very quiet on here, I suspect.

10.10.1 update did NOT fix my wifi issues, I would try to test out the beta to make sure my issue gets resolved. I hope they added many people with many different types of routers. It seems like have trouble shot the Apple routers better than the other brands, but will not be so quick to download an OS update next time unless I'm part of the beta testing. I will not Download the next major update until the noise dies down. This is the worse major update for me personally.

Hello,

I have MacBook Late 2009 and after I upgrade to yosemite my wifi had sometimes problem to connect. After update to 10.10.1 I am almos unable to connect to some network. After I turn wifi on I can't see any networks and after I switch it off and on few times I am able finnaly connect to network but sometimes it tooks too long. (arount 10 - 15x turn off / turn on).

It's sad that quality of apple software is going rapidly down.

1. kernel panic on Mountain Lion with filevalut, it took few monts to fix it

2. wifi problems on yosemite

3. some other issues I don't remember exactly.

I was realy excited with apple product at first but after few years I am almost convinced that is overpriced without any advantages

I have had this same problem. I was on another question (Is my 9 year old Mac too old?) and got a tip for a link to http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck, to come back and provide the results. I downloaded the app and ran it. So far, after just running it (I left that question and came here, because this is really my problem, wifi going out over and over), my wifi is full-strength and holding. Only about an hour so far, but much longer than it's been since upgrading to Yosemite 10.10.1. I agree with all the complaints here, Apple, Apple, where are you on this issue?

I am very disappointed with Apple since 2012, when the Macbook Pro Retina showed up. And the troubles began. Image retention in the screens, speakers problems, warming up, etc. And they idiotically stopped the 17″ Macbook Pro. The worst thing for me.

Now, its Unbelievable the whole situation with the new OS X 10.10.1. I have done a clean install from Mavericks to Yosemite, twice.I had never, never, never had an issue with any of my Macs. Now -for example- my MBP retina (mid 2012) which is better than my Macbook 2010 freezes and restart itself, the WiFi doesn’t work properly, the bluetooth the same, the dock when is gonna shut down freezes, and many more issues and bugs.

Nice, Ha? Yeah, for an almost 4000 EUR machine, yeah.. very nice. And I am wondering the why? Why they keep doing nothing about these bugs? Why they launch it an gave it as they knew about those bugs?

Why should I turn on and turn off -again and again- the WiFi to work?

And they upgrade the prices. For example 1000 EURO for an iPhone? For a phone? When they sell the Macbook air for 1300 EUR?? Are they kidding us?

I am graphic designer and Macbook was for many years my alternative desktop whenever I go. I am not the kind of people who say ” If Steve Jobs was alive bla, bla, bla..” , but I am almost there to believe all these guys who said that..

Hope to fix the issues because it is late for me to downgrade to Mavericks.

Okay, I was in the middle of writing that when my wifi went out, and I was going to have to reboot, so I just left it. I didn't know until now that it actually got posted!

I have a 2007 iMac Intel desktop that has all the problems with 10.10.1. I also have a MacBook Air 11" that had tons of problems with email. Once I thought all my emails were lost. So I did a rebuild (Mail/Mailbox/Rebuild), and it seemed to do something, then freeze. I shut down out of frustration, and when I rebooted hours later, all my emails were fine and the problem was ALMOST solved. During the time it was worst on both computers, it would never take my password. But after the email thing on the MB Air, if I rebooted it would usually give me wifi.

But not the iMac. That sometimes shows up full-strength wifi, then after 10 minutes or so, shows 3/4 strength, then will suddenly just flip out altogether. And the password never works (my husband's computer is on the same system, and he never upgraded to Yosemite. So I hesitate to change the password for fear his will also go out. He's very technically challenged, and I'm getting way out of it having been retired for several years now.)

Anyway, I came across this in this discussion from ShockoeStudios.com on Nov. 20:

UPDATE: Solved Wifi issue with MBA 2013... so far!

Hardware:

MBA 2013

Clearwire Clear Spot 4G Apollo

ISSUE: after Yosemite update (and 10.10.1 update) wifi connection continuously dropped and reconnected. No issues before Yosemite.

I was able to test using several wifi networks, which other than being a little slower than expected, all worked with no connecting issues.

Attempted fixes: All the standard ones found in this forum and other places (ie. delete network settings and preferences. Delete and recreate wifi network with new name... the list goes on.) Some very temporarily seemed to solve the issue... only to see it return after a few quick surfing sessions.

SOLVE: (at least for now... I'll update this every 24 hours for the next few days)

While in an in-depth conversation with high level Apple tech Scott... I learned that deleting the wifi preferences and settings files wasn't all the files related to wifi connection. Keychain holds the wifi passwords.

I then changed the settings in my modem to not require a password. It connected after asking me "this network previously was protected by a password. Are you sure you want to join it?" (or something along those lines) I agreed and was connected without any drop offs... Yah!!!

After a few hours of success, I changed it to WPA2 passworded (same question box popped up, I agreed)... connect with no issues... Yah again!!!

AFTER 24 HOURS: Still successfully connected!!!

NOTE: I believe this issue is caused by a corrupted keychain entry. Apples help forum shows other high level network techs have notice this issue too.

I'm assuming that just deleting the keychain related to this wifi connection would accomplish the same results. You would just need to re-enter the wifi password.

Watch for updates every 24 hours for the next few days... any feedback would be great. Let me know if this helped your issue.

Since my problem is with the password, this makes sense. I haven't seen whether it's still working for ShockoeStudios.com. I hope to try it on my desktop, because for now my MB Air seems to be working fine.

I tried rebuilding my email on the iMac desktop after writing that, and today 12 or 15 hours later when I booted up, my wifi works. It just works! It's speed is up, wifi hasn't blinked off, it's working. That's (Mail/Mailbox/Rebuild). It doesn't look like anything is happening, and it might take a couple of reboots, but this is what also cured my laptop. Hope this helps.

After a google search, the problems with WiFi, Bluetooth, Email, etc are bigger than I thought for so many users out there..

I know one thing..

It was November 2014 and it is 14 January 2015 and we still waiting for an update to fix the bugs.

Congrats Apple. Wait for the no payed world wide developers to test and fix the bugs.

Yosemite 10.10.1 update did not fix my wifi issue, did it fix yours??
