Mail crash on IMAP account Yosemite 10.10.1

I had the exact same issue.  My solution was to remove my only IMAP account, which actually uses Davmail as a service provider.  Once I removed that account, Mail opened without issue.I then added the account back via "System Preferences" -&gt; "Internet Accounts" -&gt; "Add Other Account..."It&#x27;s been syncing for a while, but no more crashes.Hope this helps!

Same here - Apple killed IMAP! Everything was fine with 10.10.0 - Now i can&#x27;t work anymore.

I started having an issue with Yahoo IMAP. The mail app doesn&#x27;t crash in my case, but mail is not sending or receiving anything and doesn&#x27;t give any error messages either. Just stopped working this morning after I updated yesterday to 10.10.1. The update seems to be the cause.

I have been experiencing this also, since one of the Yosemite GM IIRC. I have already deleted the account and added it again, which worked fine for maybe a few hours.I&#x27;ve been religiously sending the crash report since I got it the first time, and was really expecting that this 10.10.1 update would solve the issue, but no luck.I&#x27;ve been forced to use another IMAP client (Unibox)...

Work around?  Funny, I went to MacRumors to report the problem and when I clicked on their link to send a report, it opened Mail.  I&#x27;m scared to close it now to see what happens.  Later today maybe.

on my side, i could disable the virtual network adapter on my virtual machine which contains the IMAP server. This led to mail.app not being able to contact the IMAP server at startup, which in turn led to mail.app putting the respective mail account to "offline". Then, mail.app would start absolutely ok. Re-enabling the IMAP account would automatically cause a crash loop again. I will go through the settings in the IMAP account because they suggest it is missing something (how is that possible? it worked before!). "Terminating app due to uncaught exception &#x27;NSInternalInconsistencyException&#x27;, reason: &#x27;Require mailbox name to create IMAPMailbox for (null)&#x27;" Of course that could also relate to variables inside the application&#x27;s code.

i upgraded davmail to 4.5.1-2503 (the latest) and the issue persists. Also changed some settings inside the IMAP account properties (IP/resolvable hostname, use SMTP server or not, ...). Seems to be a software thingy inside mail.app.

Thanks for sharing our (bad) experience.The problem started with the 10.10.0. on my macbook air. The upgrade don&#x27;t change anything.I Have deconnected the Imap account and mail.app have always worked fine.But on reconnection of the imap account it crashed even when I delete a re-create the imap account.The only difference is when I re-create the account it takes time to rebuilt the mailbox and on finishing when it starts to retreive new mails it crashes...
