Mail not fetching new messages from GoDaddy IMAP

In both 10.10 and now with 10.10.1, Mail does not seem to want to fetch new messages from my GoDaddy IMAP account reliably. All of the other accounts seem to get new messages when they arrive at the server. I'm sure there are messages in my Inbox, as they're showing up immediately on my iPhone. "Synchronize All Accounts" does not seem to resolve the issue and I have to quit and relaunch Mail. The messages then come in immediately. I have mail set to check for new messages every minute. I can see it checking the GoDaddy account in the activity window, but it does not retrieve the messages.

Regret to say this, but I have been using Postbox 3, and after last weeks update of EL CAPITAN, now I am experiencing the same problem with both Apple Mail AND Postbox.... SERIOUSLY APPLE?!?!?!?!

I had a similar problem yesterday: Mac Mail stopped reading IMAP mail from Godaddy. I am using El Capitan.

my iPhone in the meantime reads the mails fine. And new mails have arrived as per the Web mailer. Settings are correct

and as I said, it worked fine before. Godaddy support is very unhelpful and says it's Apples problem.

Somewhere I read that GoDaddy and Mac Mail have a strange limitation to allowing only up to 20,000 mails. Via the Webmailer

I say. this worked. If true, this a serious problem with GoDaddy mail hosting and Mac Mail, to limit the number of mails to

20,000 and quietly refuse service (without an error message) when that limit is reached. How useful is an email service then?

I talked with GoDaddy Support. They said they have a 25,000 message limit in their IMAP inbox. I moved older messages into folders for each of the last three years. Bingo. Solved.
