Safari 8 graphics distorted

In Safari 8, ever since the Yosemite Beta and continuing through OS X 10.10.1, Safari Version 8.0 (10600.1.25.1), on occasion web pages will start to show PNG graphics as distorted. Quitting and restarting Safari clears the problem. I've not seen the issue in other browsers. Anyone else see this? Any ideas for a fix, or is it a problem with Safari 8's rendering engine and perhaps its compatibility with certain graphics cards?

FYI, I've seen this on two different MacBook Pros w/Retina, one 15" 2012 and one 13" 2013, and a 2010 Mac mini.

Bummer that it didn't fix your issue. I have a feeling this is a software issue with Safari. I'm sure Apple will get it worked out. I think they made a lot of changes under the hood to Safari and just need to sort some things out. For me it's not too bad. I can usually work around it. I get it really bad on Yahoo site. But most sites seem to work ok.

I bet if I was to go into an Apple store I could recreate the issue on any of the Macs in store.

It is unclear whether it is a hardware issue, a Safari issue or a combination of both.

I am running Safari version 8.0.4 (10600.4.10.7) on 15 inch Retina MacBook Pro Early 2013.

An Apple Genius ran their test. The test got stuck on the video part - a good indicator for a faulty video hardware. They changed the logic board.

According to https://www.apple.com/support/macbookpro-videoissues/, some of the following models are affected.

15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro models manufactured in 2011

15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina models manufactured from Mid 2012 to Early 2013

Unfortunately, the problem persists although not as often.

Unfortunately it's not the logic board. I have a mid 2012 MacBook Pro (15' display) and the problem only surfaced when Yosemite was installed. It happens on and off, and resetting the page eliminates it--until the next time. The first time I brought my laptop to the Genius Bar, they re-installed Yosemite. The problem wasn't fixed. The second time, the Genius Bar sent my computer out and had the logic board replaced (which includes the graphics card). The distortion continued. The third time they replaced the computer screen. And the problem is still occurring. Today I discovered that my son has the identical problem with his mid 2013 MacBook Pro. This is obviously a problem that Apple has yet to fix, but it's so frustrating to spend top dollar on an exceptional computer only to have a reoccurring problem that there's no current fix for. My son suggested seeing if the problem also occurs using Chrome or Firefox which is a good idea.

At this point, I'll try anything!

Safari 8.0.4 running 10.10.2 on Macbook Pro early 2013 2.4GHz I7 8GB ram w/ NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024MB. Have the same problem with Graphics. Screen has been replaced. Logic Board has been replaced. Graphics work better after resets, reloading software, fixing permissions and the usual. In my house I have four Macs all running 10.10.2 and Safari 8.0.4. iMac #1 mid 2011 27" 3.4GHz I7 32GB Ram w/ AMD Radeon HD 6970M 1024MB, iMac #2 (oldest) 2.8GHz I7 16GB Ram w/ ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB, Macbook Pro Mid 2012 2.3GHz I7 16GB Ram W/ NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 512 MB, and as stated earlier a Macbook Pro early 2013 2.4GHz I7 8GB ram w/ NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024MB.

Bottom line inferior older iMacs work fine without any Graphics issues. The 2012 Macbook Pro has issues but nothing that won't either resolve itself or scrolling up and down won't fix. The 2013 Retina on the other hand doesn't work right, period. So far the screen was replaced and it worked better but progressively got worse. Then the Logic Board was replaced and same thing, it progressively got worse. That's going to solve all the problems...... right.......... Wrong. I have Applecare on the three newest Macs which at the juncture seems to be irrelevant since the newest with Retina doesn't work even after 10 hours on the phone with senior Applecare techs and sending the Macbook off for repairs twice. It has passed every hardware test ever done even before parts were swapped. Only one explanation as far as I can tell. After all this you would have to think that certain computer hardware produced by Apple is not compatible with the newest software (Safari 8 and/or 10.10 OS). I like many others that I read are ready to throw the Mac out the window, run over it with a couple cars, and maybe set it on fire. So I would appreciate tremendously if anyone has any ideas on what someone that is very tech savvy might do about this other than seeing a Shrink. BTW the work around is to use Firefox which doesn't sync with my other Macs, iPhones, or iPads. I didn't spend all that money to not get the proper experience.

I'm going back to the Genius Bar next week and will show the guy some video clips I took of the problem as well as encourage him/her to review the comments on this Forum. Unfortunately, until Apple openly recognizes the problem and issues a fix, there's probably little any of us can do except use Firefox, Chrome or some other browser.

I found a fix short term. It has worked for me for a few days. Go to Safari preferences, click advanced, select developer, and close preferences. Open a page in Safari 8+ and select user agent in the Develop menu. Then select Safari 7.1.4. The only problem would be if you close the window and then it will revert to the default which is Safari 8+. If anyone one knows how to make it stick instead of reverting to default please post.
