Yosemite 10.10.1 causing Safari not to play YouTube videos...

Hi guys/girls,

I installed Yosemite on my iMac (20-inch, Mid 2007) when it was first released and I had no issues whatsoever.

Last night I updated Yosemite to 10.10.1 and now all of a sudden Safari Version 8.0 (10600.1.25.1) won't play any YouTube videos. All I get is a black screen with a little audio clipping.

When using Firefox (v32.1.1) or Chrome (v38.0.2125.122) everything works ok.

Any thoughts?

Are you using any software made by Adobe? . . . if you are trash it and all will be fine.

…except that some users, myself included, were able to fix this issue by forcing YouTube to load its Flash player.

My Youtube just stopped having sound tonight in the middle of a song. What is this workaround? I don't see a menu with the highlighted link.

I was having the same problem. Following some of the other posts on a different thread, I turned off "Click to Flash" extension and it started working.

I hope this helps others.

Here Yosemite 10.10.3 with Safari 8.0.6.

I have just turned off all extensions in Safari, except ClickToFlash.

Went to YouTube and play a video, no problem the video play correct.

Then I enabled Safari Extensions one by one at a time.

The culprit extensions are AdBlock and DisableGoogleRedirect.

Now no problem any more with all YouTube video's.

Hopefully this will works for all of you.

I agree re: Chrome. Been inching that way lately just in case, Good thing, Chrome here WE come!!

It's happening to me now...

I've got an iMac with OS X Yosemite 10.10.5.

All of a sudden, I'm unable to play Youtube Videos!

Will there be an update that will FIX this?

I've never had a problem watching videos using the HTML option on my Safari browser.

This only began happening since the last security update.

Is this a lame attempt to get us to upgrade to El Capitan?

Please FIX this!
