I've been having the same problem ever since I downloaded the new version of iTunes.

My problem has nothing to do with McAfee.

I have simulated the problem on two PCs each with firewall disabled, no anti-virus softwate and running Vista Ultimate - connected to a proven broadband network.

Symptoms: 1/3 of a 300 song PLUS update do not download and give 3259 Network Timeout Errors.

Have rebooted PCs and router several times.

Fresh purchases and "complete my album" pruchases generally work OK. The problem is limited to PLUS updates.

Have attempted these downloads many times.

3529 errors seem to be grouped by album.

My advice is do not use the PLUS update feature ...

And my theory is that it is a server problem with Apple ...

ok, this should be the official topic of this problem 🙂 So now we can delete the other 9,999,999,999 of them 🙂 Thanks to all you guys for your input. I greatly appreciate it. I'm going to give it a couple of days and see if the servers get any better. It is on Apple's end. So hopefully they will get it fixed soon 🙂

Thanks again,
T

omg, i thought i was the only one with this problem, i have 3 out of 14 songs in an album that i bought yesturday....tried out 3 singles and it worked fine, to test it out... but its still trying to download and still says "cant complete my download because the network connection timed out" so then i tried updateing to itunes plus, so now i ended up with 59 DOWNLOADS. very frustarated, and upset.

Well, that fix won't work for me -- I can't stop the McAfee Redirector service, because I don't have it!

When I wrote to Apple, I got the same standard response that a few other people have reproduced in this forum, about how the problem is with my internet connection.

But here are the facts:

My internet connection is working fine for everything else.

I have tried this on three different PCs with different types of internet connections, and gotten the identical symptoms each time.

The song that won't download also won't play its 30-second preview clip.

This has never happened before, and I have purchased and successfully downloaded hundreds of non-iTunes Plus (iTunes Minus?) songs over the past few years.

The fact that the same "Plus" song can't play a preview clip AND can't be downloaded leads me to believe that there's some sort of problem with some of the "Plus" files on Apple's servers.

It's certainly an interesting problem. One of the upgrades to iTunes Plus I started yesterday has been stuck at 9.7MB since yesterday (and several retries).

I have downloaded other songs (2 and not as large) after that with less problems.

For me the preview function is pretty much inoperable. I did find a Paul McCartney preview worked perfectly, but others just don't go anywhere.

And yet browsing the store is fine.

I would avoid playing around with various windows settings like services as if your pc was working with itunes before 7.2 / itunes plus then its unlikely to be the root cause, it appears from the other threads on this site that apple cannot cope with the itunes plus upgrades...After 24 hours I have almost finished my upgrade of 18 tracks without any pc tweaks, its just so slow! Dents the confidence I had in itunes as an online store...more bandwidth please (and some upfront planning when new features are introduced...).

You know, any CD can be imported into iTunes and loaded onto your iPod. I have about 1200 songs I've loaded on to my iPod this way...course they were all mine to begin with...but if Apple isn't going to fix this, guess I can spend my money somewhere else. I've been charged for something I can't download now already. If they don't resolve this in the next 24 hrs, I'll dispute the charge with my credit card company.
