System keyboard lags after iOS 8.1.1 update

After upgrade of the iOS to 8.1.1 I faced recurring lags while tapping system keyboard on my iphone 6 (MG4A2RU/A). Now when I type, keyboard and, it seems, the whole device as well, occasionally hangs for 1/2 to 2-3 seconds typically or even more. The issue does not depend on what type of app is running (custom or system). It happens approx. 5 times per minute and drives me really mad. When lag is over I can instantly see the text I wrote during lagging.

Things I've tried:

A common device reset. Ok, didn't even hoped It would help. And yes, I was right 🙂
Performed full settings reset. It solved the second issue I met first I installed iOS 8.1.1: absence of keyboard shortcuts in settings app and inability to add them.
Restore with iTunes from from backup. Seemed to work, yet this feeling lasted not long. Keyboard lags continued after a while.
Restore with iTunes using IPSW of the previous version of iOS - 8.1 (12B411) and set up from backup. Even this did not help.

Please help me to fix this or at least tell It will be fixed in a new update...

I'm having the same problem and tried all those things to solve the issue too, but no luck. Apple's gotta fix it. This is really annoying! 😟

I'm using an iPhone 6 Plus 64GB (MG9V2CL/A) with iOS 8.1.1

I made my own's mind restoring my iPhone WITHOUT backup. It helped.

If you're ready to spend 3-4 hours (in my case) to reinstall and set up all apps and reconfigure all settings, and to loose all messages, I strongly recommend you to do the same. Not only solved the issue, it also made my phone to work it has to: flawless and without any lags.

I'll give it a try...though I don't think needing to restore my phone w/o backup every other time Apple releases a new iOS is...cool...I mean, that's why they created iCloud, right? But thanks anyway! I'll spend the next hours restoring my phone too! 😝

Well, it did not work for me. Guess I gotta wait for an iOS update...maybe 8.2 will make it better (8.1.1 messed it all up, it was just fine with 8.1). But thanks anyway!

Same problem here. on iphone 5s and ipad air 2. Mister Cook please consider seriously of leaving apple cause you are getting it to it's worst levels ever. Unbelievable bad updates and so many problem. never the less iphone 4s and ipad 2 are struggling to work with ios8. so so bad policy!!! nothing else

How may I undo "this solved my problem"? Because afther just two weeks this intolerable s**t happens again!

Dear Apple customer care, I do not want to waste 4 hrs every 2 weeks reinstalling my iPhone withiut backup!

Any help greatly appreciated…

P.S. I'm on 8.1.2 now

After 8.1.2. Update it seems better on both devices but I will check it out for a couple of weeks before I say that the problem is solved.

Finally no luck . Same keyboard lags with ios 8.1.2. both on ipad air2 and iphone 5s. worst situation on iphone.

See, I told you so...really wish Apple would let users downgrade...iOS 8 is just no good at all!
I'm not so sure, but I think this "keyboard emulation" stuff's been causing these keyboard lags... 😕

Check this out: I have realized that SOMEWAY this lag has something ton d with iCloud: log out cloudy anyou will see that everushing will work fine. The annoying is that apple doesn't have said anything at all!!!

Thanks for trying to help man, maybe it could work. But I just can't finish my iCloud session, I mean, I'm constantly using it!

I really wish Apple woud care more about us users problems 😟

Wow, it works!

i Have to use icloud drive too, but I turned it off, then on again. Everything's working fine so far. Thanks man, you should work for Apple, you're smarter than their help crew!

ps: still waiting for an update to solve it for good!
