How do I disable xfinity wifi?

I am not sure if apple can help me solve this, but I would appreciate anyone's input

Over the past couple of months, I have found that my macbook air mini and ipad automatically join xfinity wifi where ever it is available. I do not have an xfinity account, and cannot access this, so it just blocks me from proper internet usage. I keep on setting my default back to my home wifi (which works just fine, and has been for the past 2 years), but every time I turn on the computer, it just goes back to non-working xfinity. Frankly, I am getting quite tired of having to go through this process every time I turn on my computer. Does anyone know of any way to fix this?

Like you, my network is set up correctly, with Xfinity at the bottom of the network list. Xfinity has never overridden my network. The only time I see Xfinity is if I reboot my Airports.

My thought is that if the home wireless network drops out, the computer snags the first available "free" wireless network that is in range. That is just a guess.

I know what you were responding too, but that was some nonsense I had written and canceled many pages ago. Today, I inadvertently hit the Recover button. I was hoping I had edited it with the period soon enough. <sigh>

Have a nice day.

P. S. I got rid of Comcast five years ago. 🙂

I never see it unless I am checking the list, it is not a problem of any kind at all. The people who can not get this behavior by putting it at the bottom of the list now have another problem, getting their computer fixed.

Csound1, you are right, and I misspoke. The only time I have seen it, is if I look for it on the network list. What I meant was that the only time I have connected to Xfinity is one of the times I rebooted all my routers. Xfinity was the strongest signal so one of my Macs locked on to it.

I agree with you that it will not hijack a home network out of the blue.

Have a nice day.

Here is how to stop your iOS device from automatically logging on to any "Xfinity" hotspots your device encounters. You must remove the iPhone/iPad from the registered devices on your Xfinity Account. (Csound1 please don't reply).

Step 1:

Login to your Comcast account from:

https://customer.xfinity.com/Secure/WiFiDevices/

Step 2:

Remove the devices that you no longer want to automatically access the xfinity wifi hotspots.

I am also experiencing this issue. On 12/23 we had a Comcast service guy out to our house because our internet was not working occasionally and they couldn't figure it out over the phone. He ended up putting a new router/modem box on our system with two different wifi signals 2.4 and 5.0. Prior to this, when I would first sign on to my wifi, it would sometimes come up with Xfinity hot spot. Now it does it everytime I am inactive for more then a minute or so. The service guy spend over an hour trying to figure out how to stop it including calling numerous tech people, each of whom gave him different things to do. He finally thought he had it and left. I realized later, it was not fixed. While it isn't that big of a deal to click on my network each time, it would be nice not to have to. I also think that it is not possible and has been set up that way by Comcast. I have tried going to the Customer Service page listed on this thread (the service guy also tried to) but it give an error that Safari can't find it. He said it was because I needed to upgrade my Flash Player, which I have since done but nothing changed. If someone else has a way to fix it, I would love to hear!!

PS...this only happens on my Macbook, not on our phones or my husbands iPad. Those stay connected to our home network, which they didn't before the new router/modem. Then it was hit or miss.
