Event missing in FCPX 10.1

I have an event that's not showing up in FCPX, but it is there in the Finder, along with a CurrentVersion.fcpevent file

The media from this event is not showing as 'missing' (red) in the project, but simply as blank (black) clips, so re-connecting does not work.

How do i get these files back into the project?

I've tried removing the CurrentVersion.fcpevent and re-starting , but no change...

Sorry, but I am utterly confused now.

In FCPX I have a backup loaded that contains the project file and one of the events.

The other event used in the project is on a different volume - some, but not all of the media from this volume is shown as missing, and even if I re-import the missing files, they will play from the browser, but not in the project

So my question is, where exactly should all the media files be, and what setting should I have in the Library Properties?
